It’s not every day you meet a prolific and thought-provoking writer and author like my new friend, Kaden James. I have worked with authors through the years, but there is something truly special about Kaden. His writing style is not only fresh while inspiring others, but he has such an authentic and unique potetic feel to his words within what he writes and shares.

He is a sought after life and wellness coach and has transitioned this into writing amazing informative books for everyone to benefit from. He has had success at a young age as a singer songwriter with wisdom gained and stayed grounded and grateful. His passion is to write and with his caring nature, write books that will motivate and inspire others to reach for success while living their best life now!

Kaden James has been writing his whole life, from short stories and skits for childhood friends to blogs, novels and songs that have been featured on MTV, VH1 and Logo. He landed the theme song to two shows as well as many song placements within several television programs.

Also a successful model, Kaden had the privilege of working with brands like Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford, Coach, Neiman Marcus and others. Some thought it was a bad idea to leave this all behind, but his desire to help people and do inspired work was just too strong. He no longer wanted to sell expensive clothes and create a false image.

So he left it all, full of knowlede at the peak of his career, to write a novel and do the inner work needed to heal himself from the inside out. This work he shares on his personal blog, the one kept here, in hopes of inspiring others to live a meaningful life.

Born in Hayward, CA., raised in a small town in Idaho, he faced significant challenges. He was bullied to the point of deep depression, endured physical abuse and even homelessness. He learned from every struggle he encountered, holding onto a deep belief that things would change for the better if he worked hard and continued to dream, and knew that if he helped others along the way there was no limit to what he could achieve.

Kaden now continues to show people how they to can overcome the struggles live can bring, overcome obstacles, and achieve real success you are meant to have. When he’s not writing or working, Kaden enjoys nature and the outdoors, hiking, fitness, reading and resides in Los Angeles, CA. Kaden James is a critically acclaimed writer and author of several literary works including; “The Daily Playbook” and “REFLEKT,” both available on Amazon online. Kaden always had a zest for life. After having a difficult childhood he studied the most highly successful people he came across and applied their methods and helped others reach their dreams. Through his learning, he came to understand that real success is feeling good about who you are and what you do. Born in California, Kaden was moved to a small town in Idaho at the age of ten, he came from humble beginnings, was focused, and grounded at a young age. He made his way to Los Angeles after graduating early to pursue his dreams.

As the author says, “It’s not about where you come from, what you have, or what you have done, life is about who you become.”

When arriving in Los Angeles, Kaden became a rising star as a singer-songwriter. Frequently featured on MTV, he recorded music for MTV’s ‘The Real World’ and writing and performing the theme song to both ‘The A-List: New York and Dallas.’ He enjoyed the music ride but was maturing in a new direction and had more he wanted to share.

Since fitness and living a clean, healthy lifestyle are some of his passions, in 2017, he began studying with “Robbins-Madanes Training,” (the official Coach Training School of Anthony Robbins). He became certified as a life & wellness coach with Expert Rating. He began writing unique self-help motivational books and started his life coaching business. With the gained wisdom and the thirst to help others, his coaching business took off. He continues to be an Instagram Star and influencer as he shares his coaching tips for all, and advice through poetic thoughts and inspiring words to reflect on.

When the author is not writing or coaching clients, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, working out, cooking, and reading. What inspires you to write?

I feel like inspiration just strikes like lightning for me but whenever it hits I make sure to take action. For instance my sci-fi series “Flawed” hit while I was sitting at the beach on a cliff in Malibu. The story was so powerful and then as I wrote I felt energy rushing through me, as if in my veins.

What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?

I love a lot of self help authors like Marianne Willaimson, Gary Zukav, Brene Brown, Abraham Hicks, Jen Sincero, and Eckhart Tolle.

Tell us about your writing process.

I sit down, take a breath and write. There’s not a whole process to it but I do like to listen to soft film scores and sometimes I’ll light a candle. It really feels like a process of listening to what my spirit wants to say.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?

I don’t listen as much as I get so deeply inside their minds that I feel as though I am them. I experience their world through their eyes, or at least with my main characters.

What advice would you give other writers?

Fully embrace the experience. Enjoy every part of it that you can. Have fun with the character developement, dialogue, outlines, the artwork design, the marketing, the more you enjoy it the better it will be. Also if you don’t enjoy an aspect typically then find creative ways to make it pleasurable. It’s not just about getting the NYT Bestseller, enjoy the whole process, later you’ll wish you had savored it more.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

It’s always a personal decision with each book. I really meditate and go to that quiet place of inner knowing to uncover the answer.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?

I think the future is BRIGHT! There are so many unique and interesting stories being told and with so many ways of getting those stories out there’s no limit to what anyone with the desire can achieve. Just keep going!!!

Darren is a well-known sought after sport and celebrity agent for some of the most legendary former sports pros and iconic popular actors and actresses of our generation. With that aside, he also enjoys writing and sharing his many memoirs and stories about his journey and clients who always seem to become good friends.

THE TWO KINGS…

I knew I had a problem with drugs because, at an early age when I took them, they helped me with my anxiety tremendously. The crazy thing is, as time went on, that same anxiety that went away from the drugs got so much worse, and then I was in my 20s, and although I thought they were working, I had some disastrous experiences working as a celebrity agent. The first one was with my biggest client Magic Johnson.

I’ll never forget being in Anaheim at the Convention Center, and I felt so sick, so nauseous. My stomach was so upset. I had heart palpitations, sweaty palms, hot flashes. And I said to him, I need to lie down. I’m literally lying down on the convention floor in the bathroom as Magic’s meeting and greeting with different fans. It’s humiliating, embarrassing, to say the least. I remember getting home that night, just being so disgusted at myself. How could this happen? How could I let it get this bad?

Then I had another experience, which was even worse. It was the biggest thrill of my professional career. I’m sitting center courtside with Muhammad Ali and Smokin’ Joe Frazier at the 2002 NBA All-Star game. I got these two kings together to make peace for the first time in over 35 years, and mate, I was high as a kite because I didn’t feel worthy of the situation.

My body also just couldn’t adapt to being in a situation just like that, that should have been so historic and so monumental. I only knew how to numb myself. And I completely didn’t enjoy the experience whatsoever, when I really should have just made it the greatest professional experience in my life.

And I tried to get sober for so many years at least two on my own, with the help of doctors, I would go on suboxone, I would come off of it, I would detox, I would have to go back on drugs. It was hell, pure hell. I was suicidal, miserable. Everybody around me knew how bad it was getting. They would say something to me, but I didn’t know what to do. I had nowhere to turn, and you know, looking back at it now, I wish I did it differently.

I work with Banyan Treatment Centers. They have 11 facilities in four different States. And if I knew of a Banyan, I would have taken the shortcut, I would have done it the right way and said to myself, “Check me in. I need help. Let me get my life back.” That’s all I ever wanted. Because of the way I did it, it took forever. It was years of heartache, years of just terrible, terrible withdrawal pains until I finally got sober on July 2nd, 2008.

So I’m trying to save you all the time and the heartache and the suicidal depression.

“How do you get away with murder? Maybe don’t write a blog post about getting away with murder.”

Last week, police in Portland arrested 68-year-old Nancy Crampton-Brophy. She is charged with the murder in the death of her 63-year-old husband, chef Daniel Brophy.

At 8:30 a.m. on June 2, police and medics arrived at The Oregon Culinary Institute after students and instructors arriving for class found Brophy suffering from a gunshot wound. The first responders attempted to revive him but weren’t successful. In a press conference that day, police said that they were investigating the death as a homicide and that they had no immediate suspects.

Crampton-Brophy is a self-published author of romantic suspense novels, many featuring chiseled ex-Navy SEALs — books with “rugged men, strong women, and a good story,” she touted on her website. There she described her home life — part of which read like the satisfying last pages of a romance novel:

“I live in the beautiful, green, and very wet, Northwest, married to a Chef whose mantra is: life is a science project. As a result there are chickens and turkeys in my backyard, a fabulous vegetable garden which also grows tobacco for an insecticide and a hot meal on the table every night. For those of you who have longed for this, let me caution you. The old adage is true. Be careful what you wish for, when the gods are truly angry, they grant us our wishes.

“… I can’t tell you when I fell in love with my husband, but I relate the moment I decided to marry him. I was in the bath. It was a big tub. I expected him to join me and when he was delayed, I called out, ‘Are you coming?’

“His answer convinced me he was Mr. Right. ‘Yes, but I’m making hors d’oeuvres.’ Can you imagine spending the rest of your life without a man like that?”

But in 2011, for a blog called See Jane Publish, Crampton-Brophy wrote an essay titled “How to Murder Your Husband.” (The post is no longer public.)

“As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure,” the post read. “After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don’t want to spend any time in jail. And let me say clearly for the record, I don’t like jumpsuits and orange isn’t my color.”

The essay described a range of possible motives for murdering a husband, ranging from avoiding the financial hit of a divorce to infidelity by a “lying, cheating bastard,” and even the possibility that the wife is a professional contract killer. It also weighed the pros and cons of different methods: “Guns — loud, messy, require some skill. … Knives — really personal and close up. Blood everywhere. Eww.”

She warned against committing a crime of passion: “Most of the time there is a trail that leads directly to you. Each type of murder leaves clues. A crime of passion does not look like a stranger was involved.”

The couple had been married for 27 years, according to The Oregonian, and were reportedly inseparable. Brophy was a lead instructor at the culinary institute, where he was remembered as “the resident encyclopedia of knowledge” with “offbeat sense of humor and creative approach to teaching.”

The day after her husband’s death, Crampton-Brophy posted an update to Facebook.

“I have sad news to relate. My husband and best friend, Chef Dan Brophy was killed yesterday morning. For those of you who are close to me and feel this deserved a phone call, you are right, but I’m struggling to make sense of everything right now,” she wrote. “While I appreciate all of your loving responses, I am overwhelmed. Please save phone calls for a few days until I can function.”

But a neighbor, Don McConnell, told the Oregonian of an odd interaction with the widow. “She never showed any signs of being upset or sad,” McConnell said. “I would say she had an air of relief like it was almost a godsend.” He asked whether the police had been keeping her updated. “She said, ‘No, I’m a suspect,’ ” without emotion, McConnell said.

The news was a jolt to others. “It’s a big shock. It’s a big shock,” Brophy’s mother, Karen Brophy, told The Washington Post. “But we’re not making any statements.”

“Everyone that knows her, especially those close to her than myself are sick at heart,” Anna Brentwood, a writer who says she has known the couple for two decades told the Oregonian. “We are hoping the police are wrong and just going after the easiest target.”

At a candlelight vigil a week after his death, Daniel Brophy was remembered as being gruff on the outside, compassionate underneath. Attendees recalled a cow costume the instructor used with Velcro labels to illustrate cuts of beef.

The costume was hand-sewn by Crampton-Brophy, who spoke of her late husband. “He loved teaching, he loved mushrooms, and he loved family,” she said, according to the Portland Tribune. “Not only was life a science experiment, but sometimes it was an adventure.” Near the end of the blog post imagining how and why to kill one’s husband, Crampton-Brophy wrote that she finds “it is easier to wish people dead than to actually kill them.”

“I don’t want to worry about blood and brains splattered on my walls. And really, I’m not good at remembering lies. But the thing I know about murder is that every one of us has it in him/her when pushed far enough.”


Crampton-Brophy was arraigned in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Thursday. The judge approved a request by prosecutors to seal the court document outlining the case against her. She wore a blue jumpsuit.
