About The New E-book Release:

Jordan Maxwell, a twenty-seven-year-old freelance journalist, ventures to New York City to make a name for herself. With both of her parents dead, she struggles to get by living in one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. In a twist of fate, Jordan finds herself the sole heir to her great-uncle’s estate in Solomon Cove, Maine.

Packing her bags, she heads to Maine where she soon realizes that her rags to riches journey entails much more than she bargained for.

Crime was unheard of in the small fishing village of Solomon Cove, a town where everyone knows everyone. It was the last place anyone expected crime, especially murder. However, the tides turn for this quaint town when the body of a young girl comes crashing in with the waves.

As the victims continue to mount, Jordan starts to believe the murders are connected to her and the family she never knew. Digging deeper into the past, Jordan must protect herself before she becomes the serial killer’s next target.

More About My Friend Whitney:

RECOVERY IN THE BIBLE

Whitney McKendree Moore says she writes “campfire stories.” Her books are for any Christian discouraged by a loved one’s alcoholism, especially for those who may not realize that help is available. Twelve-Step recovery led Whitney to discover that a relationship with God can be interactive, up close, and personal. She writes to tell of God’s incredible help in her life three ways:

Divine Intervention: “Whit’s End” is her personal testimony of how God revealed denial and delivered her from it into a whole new life.

Direct Connect: “Downloads from God” and “Contemporary Psalms” are companion volumes — excerpts of what it sounds like to be in Quiet Time with the Maker of the Universe.

Divine Connections: “BS-Busters” and “Praise in the Storm” are books of encouragement, urging gatherings where it is safe to “get real” with God, with ourselves, and with each other. Two other titles (“God Can!” and “What the Conductor Said”) offer additional “campfire stories” of God speaking, even through each of us, to one another.

Whitney writes to come alongside other Christians who, like her, have reached the point of saying, “I can’t; God can; I need to let Him.” She has a website called RecoveryintheBible.com and a blog there called The Question Corner.

“Cozy Author Interview With ~ Author, Whitney McKendree Moore”

1. When did realize that you wanted to be a writer and author?
Ever since ever! I remember seeing a TV ad for coffee when I was a girl (in the late 50s) where a woman was typing in front of a roaring fire with a dog at her side. I always thought that was a picture of me.

2. How long does it take for you to write one of your books? It took me a decade to write “Whit’s End.” At one point, the manuscript was 420 pages. Now it’s 112. For me, it was tricky trying to tell my story without doing so at someone else’s expense.

3. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?  I am retired now, but when I worked, I spent many nights and weekends and even vacation days writing. I guess it’s true that if you’re a writer you write!

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?  I am very colloquial, and I actually seek to sound as though I am talking. Also, I make up words. A lot.

5. How do you come up with ideas for your books?  I just decided to package up all those pages I’d been writing on nights and weekends!

6. When did you write your first book? 1986. It was called “Where To Next?” and is out of print now.

7. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing? Walking, singing with guitar and others, playing the piano.

8. How do your family and close friends think of your writing? One relative said, “We loved the cover.” And not a peep else!

.

9. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?  How reluctant I was to market it myself. I no longer consider “marketing” a swear word. Now I think of it as reaching out to encourage someone with what I have been given to share.

10. How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?  Twelve books of my own, plus another five helping other people tell their stories.

11. What do you think makes a good story?  The truth, which is so often stranger than fiction. When I wrote for magazines, I would describe my subjects as “extraordinary & ordinary people.”

12. Now lastly, where do you like to kick back and write your books?  My favorite is to take a thick stack of blank white paper to my great big bed with a bunch of sharp pencils and start there. It never goes well for me if I get onto the computer too soon…

I’d like to close by saying “You are amazing, woman. Amazing. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity, interview and ‘CAN DO attitude.” You give me GRATITUDE! Friends and Readers can come connect with me on social media below!  Visit my  Website    GoodReads   Twitter

I want to “Thank” my dear friend Whitney for allowing me to share her books and more about her with all my readers and recovery friends too! Please do yourself a great favor and pick up a few of her books and give them a read. You will enjoy them all!

Holiday Guest Post ~ 9 Ways to Write Better By JayDee of Author Wall & Being Author Book Promo…

writing

WRITERS? Are you happy with your way of writing? Do you stick to a certain style, format, or outline? Well, today my friend Jay explains how to write better in this special “Writers Spotlight.” He owns and runs Being Author an Author Promotion and Writer Blog and the new Free Book Promo site

9 Ways to Write Better:

We are all writers now. Whether you write books, blog posts, emails, tweets, or text messages, you are a writer. No matter your preferred medium, here are a few tips to help you write more effectively:

Treat text messages like prose. Before hitting the send button, look over your text: check spelling, content, punctuation. Ask yourself: What am I attempting to communicate? What am I attempting to express? Be more deliberate with your most common form of casual writing, and you’ll automatically become more deliberate in other mediums.

Words are tools. Expand your vocabulary to make your writing more precise. There’s no need to use a ten-dollar word when a ten-cent word will suffice, but having more tools in your toolbox will allow you to select the most appropriate tool for the job. Because sometimes you need an ax, sometimes you need a scalpel. So pick one new word each day, and then use it at least 21 times in your conversations with others that day. The most useful words will stick, and your vocabulary will expand over time.

Do it daily. If you want to improve your writing, write every day—make it a daily habit. Writing is a muscle: if you don’t use it, you lose it. For me, the best way to guarantee consistent writing was to start a blog.

Punctuation. Is. Pace. To add variety, velocity, and cadence to your writing, play around with different punctuation: periods, commas, em dashes, colons, semicolons. Short sentences communicate tension. Longer run-on sentences, on the other hand, help establish a frantic, hurried rhythm—a feeling that the pace is picking up as the words tumble onto the page.

Avoid throat-clearing. Blogs, books, and social media posts are littered with unnecessary intros, solipsistic digressions, and avoidable drivel. Ditch the nonsense and state your points. When in doubt, delete your first two paragraphs and see whether the writing improves.

download (4)

Don’t waste the reader’s time. Our time and our attention are two of our most precious resources. It is selfish to force a reader to spend fifteen minutes reading something you could’ve and should’ve communicated in 90 seconds. If you want to earn your reader’s trust, don’t waste her time.

30% composition, 70% editing. For every hour you spend writing, spend three hours editing, shaping your work into something more concise, more powerful—more beautiful. Writing truly is rewriting.

Narrative urgency. Every sentence must serve a purpose: Your first sentence must make the reader want to read the second. The second sentence must propel the reader to the third. So forth and so on until the very end. If a sentence doesn’t move the narrative forward—if it doesn’t make the writing more urgent—then it must hit the cutting-room floor, no matter how clever or precious it seems.

Avoid too many adverbs. A sure sign of amateur writing is the overuse of adverbs, especially -ly adverbs. A woman in a story isn’t incredibly pretty—she’s beautiful; the sky isn’t very blue—it’s azure. Find the right words to avoid using adverbs as crutches.

Cat Welcomes Author, Dr. Mette Mouritsen to The Reading Den and Her New Book ~ “MindFul Medicine.”

Hello, and Welcome Readers, Friends, and all New Visitors…

mindful1

It seems as of late, I have been hired by many authors abroad in different countries to help them with sharing and promoting their books here in the USA. And my dear friend Mette Mouritsen is no different. She lives and works in Denmark. And yes, she is my first client from Denmark. I have had the pleasure to help promote books live in the UK, The Seychelles, Brazil, Scottland, and Thailand, other than here in the US.

It has been a blessing and honor to do so as they all are fantastic writers and authors! Mette has written and published several more books, but her new book is being sold on both Amazon and Balboa Press Books titled; Mindful Medicine: An Inspirational Book on Awakening and Conscious Health.

ABOUT HER NEW BOOK:

In Mindful Medicine, author, physician, and psychotherapist Mette Mouritsen shares her own story of spiritual awakening in order to provide a holistic understanding of the body together with a practical approach. It is primarily based on her own experiences and stories, and it represents a paradigm shift in thinking about the human as a coherent energetic body in a coherent energetic system; it shows instead how symptoms are messages to be understood and not necessarily enemies that must be removed, and it is Mouritsen’s hope that we can transform difficult and common human emotions when we are sick into life-affirming messages that promote our health and well-being.

Editorial Reviews:

“Raw honesty and empathy are consistently on display in the case stories … a very professionally presented, mindful approach to healing that will give guidance and hope to readers.”
~Helle Brisson, MA

“Rather than looking at another person through a learned medical, psychological, and mostly fixed lens, she invites us to stand right at the edge—to explore the other person’s psychological and physiological landscape as totally unknown ground, as deeply unique, in attempt to find meaning and to support what might be called for in the symptom of pain and suffering. Touching and being touched by many hearts, Mette guides us in consciousness. What a gift!”
~Ameyo Katharina Barfred-Dixon, Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Trainer and Supervisor in Denmark, Sweden, and England.

####

So I asked Mette to answer a few questions for us so we can learn more about WHO she is and about being an author and writer in helping many find answers within a more healthy and holistic approach and away from conventional medicine. Our bodies are amazing healing benefactors and Mette has learned by herself just how amazing our bodies heal as she shares this with us in her new book! I am half done reading it myself and can tell you it has been eye-opening and informative thus far.

What I know about Mette Mouritsen is she a physician, psychotherapist, and mindfulness instructor, and she uses her comprehensive skills in an integrative way to heal her patients. Since her spiritual awakening in 2010, she started to write and is now the author of six books and now her new release. She also lectures and features workshops for others so you can book her for workshops as well by Email her below Contact mindful.medicin@gmail.com  for booking.

Here is more about her and my interview with her which will also be featured on ilikeebooks.com!

Interview With Dr. Mette Mouritsen, Author

1. When did realize that you wanted to be an author?
I did not see myself as an author until recently. I just had a great urge to write after my sudden shift in consciousness, and it seemed very natural to write and share my knowledge. My first book was meant as an urgent support for the psychiatric patients  I had met on the psychiatric ward in order to make the professional caretakers aware of how it was to be a patient. The following books came one after the other inspired by my  continuously work as a doctor and my new perspective on diseases.

2. How long does it take for you to write one of your books?
One of the books was written in two weeks, I was very inspired.  After writing it I spend months on
modifying the sentences in order to make the messages as clear as possible.  I have written and publishing  one book every  year. One year I did two books.
3. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?
Since I started writing more  regularly I have  changed job position, from having daily work on my own clinic to a work as a doctor on duty where it is more easy to schedule my time and to work less, just what is needed for daily living.
When I am busy writing I forget time.  My stomach calls for brakes and of course my family and other important things. I can wake up very early in the morning and start writing.

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I play with the original meaning of the words, which may changes the perspective of the topic to the reader. Also I often understand a topic from different perspectives and I am able to present these different perspective  to the reader to open their eyes for other ways of
thinking.

5. How do you come up with ideas for your books?

I get inspired by listening to patients and people I meet. Also I get inspired when sitting in silence every morning and when walking in silence in nature. Sometimes I get an idea and then it just flows from my hands very easy. Other times I get an idea and  write someting and  walk away and return and continue or changes some of it.

6. When did you write your first book? In 2012
7. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing?
Walking and running and staying in nature. Travelling, Meeting  friends, dancing, photographing.

8. What do your family and close friends think of your writing?
My children don’t see me as an author, they still see me as a mom and doctor.  My old mom at 86
years is the only one that comments on my books, she likes them and says I am good at writing. She asks why I don’t write romans and Novels, since this is what she usually reads, and she reads a lot.

9. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?
The way I had lost my self  through my way of living and working.  How much I loved my family and how difficult it was for me to express it by words.

10. How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
I have written six books in Danish, three of them I have translated into English so in fact it is 9 books.  My latest book “ Mindful Medicine” is my
favourite.

11. What do you think makes a good story?
Well it depends on the type of book. I like fantasy books like Harry Potter but I also like  poetry and authenticity. I like when I sense the passion behind the words.

12. Where do you like to kick back and write your books?
In silence in nature or  sitting by a window being able to look out into the sky, the see or  trees in nature.  Also I get inspired by sitting quietly listening to other people, but I can’t write  when staying together with other people, I may make some notes though.

Authoress, Kim Carter Reviews Blowing Away Mystery-Suspense Readers With Her New “A Clara & Iris Mystery” Series.

Fresh off a fabulous Holiday Book Promotion for her new novel series, I caught up with Author, Kim Carter to see what has been happening with her and her successful novel launch held by Raven South publishing at “The Atlanta Water Gardens” where she launched book 2 of the series titled; “Murder Among The Tombstones,” as book 1 has been doing well titled; “Sweet Dreams, Baby Belle.”

Kim was also very excited as her agent submitted her books in several book awards and she is currently in First Place for a TCK Publishing 2017 readers choice award!! If you’d like her to WIN?  You can go here Readers Choice Voting Page to vote for her in the Mystery Category for “Murder” on TCK!

Kim let me know it went FANTASTIC and they had about 60 or so attendees and signed many books! They had a book reading from “Murder” and her friend Lissha Sadler, Radio Host at “Lets Chat” and CEO of Writing Royalty Promotions ,  did a fabulous Question & Answer session with Kim. They had a ball! So I asked Kim what’s going on now? She is deep in writing book 3 of her series and just finished a new stand-alone mystery, and so far titled,And The Forecast Calls For Rain.”  She shared it will be a new story that takes place in and around Seattle Washington. So, readers, I can not wait for that new book! So let’s see what readers and book reviewers are saying about Books 1 & 2 of the novel series so far, shall we?

Book Reviews And But On Amazon ~ “Sweet Dreams, Baby Belle” and “Murder Among The Tombstones”  Books one and two of  “A Clara & Iris Mystery Series”…

“A mystery suspense thriller in every sense of the word!”

With eminently admirable characters and exquisite imagination ‘Sweet Dreams, Baby Belle’ is a compelling read where author Kim Carter crafts mounting suspense that overwhelms skepticism.

Charming personality of renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Grant Chatsworth lures a small town waitress-Lizzie to a deceptive ‘blissful happy marriage’ until secrets confined within the walls of Buckhead’s finest estates elucidate Lizzie about the darker nasty shades of Grant’s propensity of crime and cruelty. Terrible adversity and troubled faith lead Lizzie to take refuge at her sister Maggie’s doorstep, where destiny has more alarming adventures in store for her.

Author Kim Carter’s read is a mystery suspense thriller in every sense of the word with an intriguing narrative that moves at a breakneck pace, skillfully combined with a writing style that provides vivid mental pictures of the settings and characters sufferings. While many things are not what they seem, everything amazingly connects in a surprising finale.

Entertaining enough to engage even reluctant readers, ‘Sweet Dreams, Baby Belle’ is a powerful 5-star page turner that is highly recommended.   ~Enas Reviews

Sweet Dreams, Baby Belle by Kim Carter. 5 Stars!

What a wonderful exciting suspenseful mystery!

So much intriguing twists and turns it had me completely spellbound.
And omg I fell in love with Clara and Iris, those two old ladies were a hoot. Grant and Lizzy are the couple that the story revolves around, their perfect life is not what it appears to be. He’s a very dangerous man and will go to extremes to accomplish his goal, even trying to eliminate those who double cross him.

Clara the nurse that works for Grant discovers things that not only play a huge part of the core of this story, but she also becomes, along with her friend Iris one of the most hilarious characters ever.

A rich surgeon, a Ponzi scheme, a few murders, 2 old ladies, a deranged housekeeper, some monkeys, and a wife on the run plus a ghost. Hmmmmmm, what would they have in common? Now there is a mystery that is begging to be solved!!

Great Read!!

I have voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by its author.  ~Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.

Editorial and Reviews: “Murder Among The Tombstones”

Widows on The Case!”

Two crafty septuagenarian widows turned private investigators; a crabby Atlanta cop recovering from a gunshot wound, and a cunning killer who dumps his victims rather appropriately in cemeteries. Those are just a few of the zesty ingredients in Murder among the Tombstones, the latest whodunit by Georgia-based mystery writer Kim Carter. It is a fast-paced, twister of a mystery that keeps you turning pages until the very end.

Private Investigators Iris Hadley and Clara Samples may be in their seventies, but don’t think they are over the hill. These ladies are witty, wily and with it. A Must Read!

This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Carter, and I was encouraged to take the plunge and buy the Kindle edition by the positive reviews of others. Boy was I in for a treat! Ms. Carter is an outstanding writer who has very interesting characters and well-thought-out plot and subplots with all the twists and turns that make you want to continue reading the next chapter even though it’s well past your bedtime.
I’m definitely looking forward to her next book, and I’ll be checking out her previous works too!####

Murder Among The Tombstones by Kim Carter 5 Stars!

One of the best Intense, Amazing and Hilarious Murder/Mysteries that I have read this year!!

A crime story about two old ladies who are private investigators. Brilliant!!

Clara and Iris have become two characters I absolutely love and can’t wait to see what they investigate and uncover next, lol…

This story also brings back some characters from the book Sweet Dreams Baby Belle. That book is where you first meet Clara and Iris, detectives Pitt and Nettles along with a great cast of new people like Quita and Sugar in this story.

Get lost in a story about a murder mystery that will leave you guessing until the end who did it. It also will leave you laughing at what Clara and Iris do and say.

I absolutely love this book and have found me a wonderful new author that has me captivated by her stories. Touche!
