Readers Need To Know as Cat Raises The Curtain! Author, Joe Siccardi Celebrating A New Book Cover Reveal!

Posted on September 4, 2020
Re-Share From Wisdom From a Father Blog

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for Joe. Last week we revealed the audio version of My Name Is Sam … and Heaven Is Still Shining Through is now available through Audible.

Today I want to introduce you to Wisdom From a Father …one dad’s thoughts on life Volume 2

Drrrumroll please… Boom-Bah-Bah-Boom-Bah-Bah-Boom-Bah-Bah-Boom!

Here it is …

Wisdom From a Father Volume 2 is available for pre-order in the Kindle Store. It is available for customers to pre-order here. Customers who pre-order the book will receive the content on the release date, Oct. 8.

I am offering the e-book at a pre-release price of just 99 cents. After release the price will go to the suggested price of $3.69. Kindle Unlimited readers can download it for free.

Volume Two contains a continued collection of short stories and reflections on everyday life. As I often say, I’m just that ordinary Joe walking on the path of life … and sharing more of it with you. There are joys. There are tribulations. There are reflections. There is every day life. In each essay I try to convey a recognition of a greater Power who colors my perspective. My comments are always filtered through the lens of my Judeo-Christian values and largely based on 40 years of marriage raising five children.

The format is similar to the first volume … short reflections updated from this blog. It is segmented into 52 chapters, which can be read in one sitting or as a weekly reflection. One reviewer commented, “Wisdom from a Father is a collection of delicious, food for thought, short essays/blogs illustrating Joe Siccardi’s life experiences.

Framed in a religious context and punctuated at the end of each essay by an inspirational quote, Siccardi has a knack for taking the ordinary and elevating it to something we can all relate to and be touched by.” Another contributed, “this ‘not quite devotional’ book is inspiring and helps you to keep in mind what’s most important in life — living one in which God is leading.”

In addition to the e-book, I am in the process of generating a paperback, which also will be released Oct. 8. That’s not quite ready for pre-release yet, but I hope it will be within thee next week or so. I’ll keep you posted.

I’m excited about the release. I am particularly pleased with the design created by Sasidu Chamodya. We can’t wait for your comments!

The audiobook formally dropped last week and just gives you — the audience — another way to enjoy this first person, Christian themed, fictional memoir of “just a free-willed suburban Jersey girl trying to figure out this journey called life.”

My Name Is Sam is narrated by Kirsten Kopp and runs four hours and 31 minutes. The book has a list price of $14.95. Member price is $10.46 or one credit. It is downloadable at Audible.

Hey Kids, My New Friend, and Writer of Fun Kids Books For You to Read–Meet ‘Big Red Chicken’…

Hello and Welcome to Mom’s, Dad’s, and Grandparents too!
Cat is hoping you will share this post with your kids. Meet my friend and awesome author, Lance Nevis. But to children, he is known nationally as “Big Red Chicken™” and has many adorable children’s books you can read to the kids in your home this summer into fall. Even the adults get some tickles and giggles.

So here is a little more about Big Red, about how he began writing children’s books way back in 2007. He self-publishes them himself as he founded ‘Animal Rain Productions’ back in 2010. He helps give back to autism research.

Here is a message from Big Red aka,. Lance Nevis as he shares in his own words a wee bit more!

Animal Rain Productions. Publishing company that produces the best kid's books in 2020

“I have long dreamed of doing something to make a difference. I have always had an artistic side playing music, singing, and writing my whole life. My hopes are that one day these books will help raise money and awareness towards the fight against autism …as all the books are dedicated to my autistic nephew Michael Nevis Jr., and my hopes are that with the help of supporters, readers, and the social media age that I will be able to help raise money and awareness for autism.

“These are poetic books with fantasy inspired by some of my life events. They promote imagination and artistic stimulation. I have been told that some of the words are difficult yet I believe they encourage the building of vocabulary. Kids are smart and inquisitive as they will ask how to pronounce words and when they learn a word, they will then ask what it means if they do not know them.”

“The story of me writing these books start way back as letters to my daughter. See, there was a time in my life that my struggles with alcohol brought me some trouble which caused my daughter and me to be separated. I could not stand the fact that I was putting her through this and vowed that I would get her out this as fast as I could.”

“Certain officials had told me the rules of letter writing while she was in this situation. I thought about it for a while and my first book Animal Rain was born in 2007. I have since then started my own publishing company which is called Animal Rain Productions and have a total of five books released, two of which are new releases and are color-combo books.”

Now, about my nickname, one-day on a fishing trip three years ago a little boy was running up and down the shore insisting that I was Big Red Chicken™ LOL, his Dad said, “Son, you don’t know him well enough to call him that.” The boy then said, “No Dad, that’s Big Red Chicken!” Since then it has stuck. So I hired an attorney and trademarked the name, “Big Red Chicken. ™”

“My books are made to bring people together and instill imagination in the minds of children. Although it has been a struggle getting noticed, I have endured and continue to believe in my dream that one day these stories will be in the hands of many and bring joy and a smile to them all!”

“Thank you for all the support that has been given to me on this incredible journey.

God Bless, Big Red Chicken …A special “Thanks” to my Mom and Dad who sometimes think I am a little crazy but yet continue to support me.”

The New Release & Readers Favorite Review:

Reviewed by Donna Parrey for Readers’ Favorite

Author Maxwell Ivey Jr. describes his book, The Blind Blogger’s First Speaking and Signing Adventures, as “part memoir/part self-help” and the two genres are inextricably entwined. Max takes us along on his journey from Texas to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Florida, sharing his successes, his troubles, and his life lessons along the way. The book is structured somewhat chronologically, although there are occasional re-routes to examine a back story along the way.

Most of the 32 chapters are a quick read and each includes priceless “key takeaways” at the end. While the storyteller may be unsighted, he has a keen vision for extracting opportunities to learn and grow from his experiences, and we are the beneficiaries. In his last chapter, he gathers all 95 inspirational key takeaways as a handy reminder for readers that they, too, can overcome obstacles and achieve more than they may have thought themselves capable of doing.

Right from the first page of chapter one, it was clear to me that Max Ivey could sense authors’ insecurities and wanted to help us erase them. He’s been there, done that. Through honest and sometimes humorous anecdotes, we learn about how the blind author plans for success, solves problems and gets things done. In The Blind Blogger’s First Speaking and Signing Adventures, Ivey combines family history, new acquaintances, travel adventures, and personal insights to give readers a full picture of this man and his mission.

He teaches and entertains with stories about canned oysters, singing doo-wop, and facing every author’s fear: what if you had a book signing and nobody came? One of his key takeaways after chapter ten is “God will put people in your path that you are destined to meet.” Perhaps this is why you have found Maxwell Ivey’s book. To reference his carnival days, you might be a “lucky duck.” Well worth the read!

Todd is my first introduction to Ulmer’s work and now understand why it became a fantastic award-winner. I look forward to reading the whole series of ‘The Ceder Cove Chronicles’ after reading Todd as it holds your interest in what is to come next being a family saga and unique enjoyable book!

The story of a fictional family set in the 1940s – 1950s when times were much more straightforward. The Jansan family goes through many trials and storms but holds steadfast to their Christian faith and beliefs as they learn they can endure any storm together as a loving caring family. I am not a big fan of heavy religious reads, but this story has just the right amount as not to be overbearing. Todd is well written, well-developed characters. Watch out for Grandma Cal, a vibrant ole coot!

The story overall pulls you in with family drama, surprises, and a lot of love. Even as you learn about their neighbor, who is a very nasty mean drunk and is a constant that made me feel lucky I don’t live next door to Horace! (I’m not too fond of spoilers) …

I was, however, privy to know that the author had woven in some of her cherished childhood and family memories of family living in the south, which I feel. made this book even more special to read. It has a historical feel to a fictional novel that has you engaged with only an area or two where the flow could have picked up a bit.

While reading Todd, be ready to experience more love, some laughs, a tear or two, and feelings of loss of old fashioned family values and discipline that many of us grew up within like ‘Old Southern Americana.’

I highly recommend it and such an enjoyable read.

As the title of this review suggests, I found the child’s voice narrating this story to be believable, heartfelt, and engaging. Another big plus for this book is the window it provides into family life for a small farming community during World War II. It’s a fresh perspective.
So many World War II books and movies I’ve run across go more into the battles and bombs, the politics, the atrocities of the Nazis, the efforts on the home front in support of the war—all of which are important aspects that help us understand life during that time. This book, for me, is a welcome addition, something else to think about.

Another positive is the ongoing and escalating conflict between the narrator’s family, the Jansans, and a neighboring family, the Hammonds. I was very much emotionally invested as the plot unfolded. Very good read and well-written!

Do you remember your first date? How about your last date?

I don’t think it matters whether you are the dater or the datee. I’m pretty sure the emotions are similar. There is anxiety, anticipation, maybe a little bit of trepidation. Will I make a good impression? A bad impression? What will we talk about? How much will I learn about my date? Will it be an enjoyable experience? Will I chalk it up as a learning lesson? Will I look forward to another connection or one is done and enough?

Those are some of the thoughts that have crossed my mind after announcing Friday’s (Virtual) Evening with Author Joe Siccardi. Pre-order Happening Now and New Book Release Coming by Author, Tony Roberts Called “When Despair Meets Delight”…

New Book Releasing Soon By My Dear Friend and fellow author Tony Roberts! It is his second book to release and I can’t wait to give it read! He has been a tireless advocate for those of us who have Mental Health challenges in life.

There is more to learn and the ordering details are at the bottom of this post and shared from his amazing website of Delight in Disorder!

When Despair Meets Delight Goes to Press

The time is at hand. After five years of gestation, and over a year of hard labor (with a week of major complications), I have been assured that When Despair Meets Delight will go to the printers today. From there, it should take two weeks to prepare a review copy. When I am satisfied that all looks good, I will bring boxes of books home. Then comes the delightfully arduous task of mailing out advance orders — now over 100. On September 3, the print and e-book will be released on Amazon and the audio version on Audible.

This has been an incredibly busy week. I contracted with a man from Uganda to design memes for social media. I hired a sound engineer to create a commercial for iHeart radio. I have been reaching out to podcasters, blog authors, pastors, and others to get the message out. I am both incredibly enthused and emotionally exhausted.

FreshHope - God's Second Chances

I know I can’t maintain this pace and I’m happy to say I have much help. Not only from God, but from God’s people. Over 100 people have joined #TeamDelight, praying for me and our shared mission to spread hope for troubled minds, the hope that shines light in the darkness and turns despair into delight.

Many of you know (some more than others) that I am taking a big risk. With my illness, such a frenetic schedule can do me in. One of the only ways to promote a memoir is to promote the author.

For someone with bipolar, this can lead to grandiosity. I can begin to believe my own press clippings. Please pray with me that I maintain a humble heart, even if it means I am humiliated. I’m willing to play the fool, as long as I am a fool for Christ and give God the glory.

Finally, it is essential that I show integrity; that my actions are consistent with my words. One piece of pastoral advice I’ve given people is — “Receive God’s care, so you can care for yourselves to care for others.” Like the flight instructions often ignored, before we can help children with their oxygen masks, we have to put on our own.

If I deplete my spiritual strength in an effort to manage more than I can bear, I won’t do anyone any good. To avoid this, I’m going to plan each day a schedule that promotes good health — physical, psychological, spiritual.

My primary aim in life is not just to glorify God, but to enjoy him forever. One of the best ways to enjoy God is to appreciate creation. Each day I’m going to do something that better connects me with nature. Whether it is watching the joy of my wife as she plants flowers, taking my dog Briley for a refreshing walk through the park, or going on a retreat at a cabin in the woods. I am committing myself to live more in harmony with what God made and called good.

One thing I know I will continue to do is writing. Writing is not only my vocation, but it is also my primary form of prayer. It is my life’s blood. There is a direct vein going from my heart to my hand that pumps who I am and whose I am onto the page.

When I write, the voices inside and around me are shushed and I can better hear God’s voice. When I read Scripture and reflect on it, I embrace the truth God speaks out of love for us.
