About The Shaman and the Mafia
(E-book on sale for $2.99 thru August 2022)

Marietta Collins, a former nun, becomes enmeshed in the tragedy of a brutal murder.

Marietta, now the head of a youth drug rehab center, is dedicated to ridding the community of the growing criminal element.

The victim of the suspected mafia hit was her friend Joseph Gleason W, a drug informant. During the course of the investigation, she meets the victim’s brother, FBI assistant director Raymond Gleason. There’s an instant attraction between the two. He becomes her first lover, and their romance blossoms into a deep love for each other.

Raymond gives FBI agent Jerry Young, who is also his best friend, the responsibility of investigating the murder and hunting down the mafia’s kingpin. Marietta and Jerry have a brief of a clandestine affair that they are both later sorry for. Jerry, haunted by guilt for his violent past, turns to his childhood mentor, a mysterious Cherokee shaman, to save him from the burning fires of lust and his desire for vengeance. Also involved in the search for the murderer is Detective Riley, a tough, trash-talking female cop formerly with the NYPD, who discovers her new boss, Sgt. Sorrento is on the take from the mob.

While other minor characters help tell this gripping story, this is an action-packed mystery and love story that also examines the conflicted emotions of the characters as they try to make sense of their lives through the web of crime, darkness, and light.

Also, By Author Elizabeth Upton ~ Secrets of a Nun: My Own Story

About The Memoir, Story, Within Elizabeth’s Voice

Secrets of a Nun is an uncompromisingly honest and deeply moving look into one woman’s soul.

At the age of sixteen, Elizabeth, a talented athlete, gives up her dreams of competing in the Olympics to become a nun. Separating from her mother and twin sister, she leaves her friends and familiar world behind to pursue a saintly life. But she finds herself unprepared for what lies ahead. While her cloistered life commences as a profound spiritual and emotional journey, personal disenchantment takes root and slowly grows over the next twenty years.

Elizabeth recoils against the restrictive atmosphere of convent life. She struggles with conflicting emotions until a forbidden love affair forces her to come to grips with her needs as a woman. Over the course of striving to find her real authentic self, she ultimately feels compelled to leave the Order.

This fascinating account of courage and passion is inspired by a true story. It will at once shock you and bring a smile to your face as you follow the course of a young woman’s obsession to become a spiritual seeker—an obsession that, over time, transforms into a deeply felt desire for personal liberation.

Cat Sharing Author Wilsdaryon Prescher News, Updates, and Reviews. His Ebook Hits #1 on Amazon Kindle & 5-Stars From Reader’s Favorite!

It seems author Wilsdaryon Prescher is everywhere these days. Fresh off his guest spot on KDD Media’s Knockin’ Doorz Down podcast this month, he and his new book titled “This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma, where Wil shares all about his life story with the host, Jason LaChance.

You can watch/listen to Wil’s show here on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlAIKOsGsAc and learn all about what he is doing to “give back” to high-risk teens who may feel like they have no hope. Soon after he taped his podcast show, his e-book version of his new book went live on Amazon Kindle, and it HIT #1 in the category of self-help abuse/trauma. Priceless!

Author and Writer Wilsdaryon Prescher on KDD

Just as this was going on with his podcast spotlight, Wil learned his book/memoir was awarded a 5-STAR book review given by Reader’s Favorite. This seems to be on a Literary Roll! (Lol). So I’m sharing the fantastic Press Release and Announcement he received from Reader’s Favorite and the glowing review he was given for his new book.

For Immediate Media Release:

The author’s new book receives a warm literary welcome.

They are also fully accredited by the BBB (A+ rating), which is a rarity among Book Review and Book Award Contest companies.

“Reviewed By K.C. Finn for Readers’ Favorite

This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma is a work of non-fiction in the memoir subgenre. It is aimed at mature readers and was penned by author Wilsdaryon Prescher. The book follows the author’s recovery from the abuse he endured in his youth, a journey made possible by the power of music. Throughout the rocky road of escaping the abuse, developing coping mechanisms that hindered more than they helped, and encountering the biases that people hold against abuse survivors, the power of music provides a tool for the author to rediscover their authentic self and move forward into adulthood.

I’m always in awe of any author penning a memoir, especially one willing to show sincere emotional vulnerability to their readers. Still, sometimes an author leaves nothing off the table when describing the upsetting and painful parts of their lives. Such an author is Wilsdaryon Prescher, whose willingness to frankly portray some of the most challenging situations a young person can live through is matched deftly by his skillful prose in doing justice to the depiction of those moments.

This book is an emotional journey that readers will be moved by as they experience the hardships of the author’s younger years and the rocky road to happiness that came with adulthood.

Overall, This Is Me Trying is an honest depiction of the never-ending struggle toward recovery and a book that frankly depicts mental health issues and the journey to better mental and emotional wellbeing, wherever your starting point in life may be.”

I have just finished reading Wil’s book myself, and I can assure you that it is worth the read! I have added my book reviews for him and his memoir on Amazon, Goodreads, and Reedsy. Here is my book review from Goodreads… ✨✨✨✨✨

This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma
by Wilsdaryon Prescher (Goodreads Author)

Catherine Townsend-Lyon‘s review

An exceptionally well-written Memoir.

“This Is Me Trying” is not only a well-written book but a poignant read as well. Deep insights into what can happen when a little boy is born into chaos, poverty, trauma, and tragic abuse of several kinds. The author’s subtitle doesn’t even share the tip of the iceberg of what you will read about his early life.

However, I can guarantee by the last page; that you will cheer this young man for overcoming the many obstacles he has had to process and the life he has built for himself while still healing. But, heartbreaking at times, this book is unique, and the courage and bravery it took to share all that he has been through is commendable. Not surprising he has no ties with his biological parents or siblings.

As you read, that would only bring him more chaos with more discrimination. So does that come from possible envy or jealousy from his biological family, and due to the fact the author has been so successful in reshaping a more healthy, emotional, and stable life today? One part I thought was humorous was when he shared about his teens and throwing a desk or chair out a classroom window became his “signature move.”

Sadly, he did because of not learning yet to process the emotions and trauma of now being bounced around in the foster care system after being taken from his biological family’s home, finally. The last 40% of the book shares how and continues his healing process even today. All in all, this is a vital memoir everyone should read.

Does Wilsdaryon get the happy ending he longs for? Does he find a family he has always wanted?
I highly suggest your his book to find out. ~Cat of Lyon Literary Services & Book Media

Meet Our Newest Author Wilsdaryon Prescher To The Reading Den & His New Memoir Titled “This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma…

Memoir By Wilsdaryon Prescher Author

We have all read the headlines about children in poverty, seriously neglected, physically and verbally abused, and traumatized. This is just a smidge of what Wilsdaryon has written and shared within the pages of his new book. And if that was not enough of what he experienced from birth until seven?

He and his siblings were finally taken away by Child Protective Services in Temple, TX, and put into the foster care system that we all know is BROKEN. As he is BROKEN and traumatized all over again. So how does a child overcome such pain and all these atrocities? If you read his new book, you’ll learn HOW… It is his story, voice, and haunting memoirs of overcoming and healing.

It truly is a must-read for everyone. 🫶✍️🙏🙏

About The Book

Out of the deep, murky waters of neglect and abuse, Wilsdaryon Prescher used the power of music to find strength and heal and overcame the odds stacked firmly against him. His book, This is Me Trying, tells the story of a boy who has blossomed into the man he knew he could be, despite the darkness that engulfed him throughout his childhood and adolescence.

Through the power of music, Wilsdaryon discovered himself after losing touch with who he really was. With this newfound soundtrack of life, Wilsdaryon was able to rise from the darkness and turn experiences that were once chaotic and traumatic into something pulchritudinous. Just like a lotus flower that rises from the murky waters at the bottom of the pond, Wilsdaryon too has blossomed by overcoming various forms of abuse, coping mechanisms, and stigmas.

About The Author:
‘Wil’ Prescher, a new emerging author of his first book titled “This Is Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma,” is available on Amazon in both paperback and e-book versions featured on fine literary book sites.

Born in Temple, Texas, and at seven years old, he’d been placed into the foster care system due to trauma and abuse; sadly, he spent the next few years bouncing from foster home to foster home. At the age of twelve, Wil went to a foster home in Walnut Springs, Texas, with loving people who would eventually become his adoptive family.

As Wil grew older, he developed a yearning to help individuals who have been in similar situations. He understood how navigating the foster system could be very challenging and that many were not as fortunate as he had been. Wil has spent the last four years studying mental health and substance abuse issues while working with at-risk youth in multiple organizations.

During this time, he realized the effects of music therapy on a person’s soul and emotional well-being; he is continuing his education to fulfill his dream of becoming a therapist. He hopes to share his experiences with others to show that something good can come out of an unfortunate situation out of his control.

Wil and Family

When he is not working or studying, Wil enjoys spending time with his family who has adopted him. He also enjoys hiking and the outdoors. You can always find him jamming to the music of “Pink” with his two cats, and he still resides in the Houston, Texas area.

BOOK INTRODUCTION

When I first dreamed up the idea of writing a book, I knew I wanted it to be unique and special, as every writer does. I wanted to be able to capture the minds of the readers. I knew some portions of the book would be tough for some to read, especially those who knew me on a personal level. But also, I wanted to give them a peek into my world for the last twenty-something years. I wanted
to be able to connect them to my story not just with words but through music, too.

Over the course of my career working with at-risk youth I haverealized the effects that music therapy has on a person’s soul. From this idea, I knew I must incorporate music into my book somehow. I wanted to make a great soundtrack for my book just like how great movies have powerful soundtracks, that’s what I wanted. Every chapter is based on a song that holds a special meaning to me.

The events of the first sections of the book are from what I remember, as well as case notes from my CPS case managers, therapist, police reports, and foster parents. Most of the names have been omitted to ensure anonymity. This book isn’t intended to destroy anyone’s reputation or lives. I wanted to share the events of my life how I remember them.

And this is my story. . . This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma

Author INTERVIEW With Deborah Perdue 🤗
(Courtesy of Awesome Gang Book Site)

What inspires you to write?
Writing about spirituality inspires me greatly. In particular, writing about gratitude, and inspiring others to be more grateful in their lives is very fulfilling to me. Becoming a gratitude aficionado in my own life in 2012 informs me of how very powerful a daily gratitude practice is, and I like to share this knowledge.

Tell us about your writing process?
I tend to write short pieces. When I write, I like best to use pen and paper, and then type on my computer where I also edit. I write daily because I send out Daily Gratitude Reflections and this keeps me always writing which I love to do.

Who are YOUR favorite authors?
Spiritually, I enjoy Mark Nepo, Michael A. Singer, Brene Brown, Caroline Myss, Deepak Chopra, and Wayne Dyer, to name just a few. Fiction-wise, I enjoy modern psychological drama and mysteries. A few authors to name are Kristen Hannah, Judi Picoult, and Susan Clayton-Goldner. I also love Toni Morrison, Anne Lamott, and Maya Angelou. Loved Michelle Obama’s book “Becoming.”

What genre do you enjoy reading for pleasure?

Modern psychological fiction and also modern mysteries.

What advice would you give other writers?

If you love what you are writing about, keep going! Never give up. Writing is a wonderful form of creativity.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

I self-publish through my own publishing company Applegate Valley Publishing. I wanted to publish my first Grace of Gratitude Journal and did, and then others followed. Inspiration gratitude books and one more beautiful journal.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?

Books will always be loved by many. A lot of people like me prefer touching the pages of a physical book. Print books will have their place and ebooks are now popular too.

Lastly, what is one quirky thing readers don’t know about you?

Sometimes my husband has to remind me to be grateful if I’m in a bad mood. LOL!

Forget starvation diets and joint-jarring, lengthy cardio routines that can accelerate aging and injury.

While this book is designed to help people over the age of 50, as someone who is younger than 50 I found this book to be applicable to me too. The detail that the author goes into explaining why he recommends the exercises and practices really helped me understand how important they are. Rather than simply saying you should do this, he shows you why.

I really enjoyed the chapter on mathematics and health & attractiveness, as it provides some clear formulas that make sense. I also appreciated how the author kept this book brief and to the point. An easy read!

Meet An Amazing Author, Podcaster, Woman Entrepreneur Who Inspires and Networks With Other Women From A Big Caring Heart.💖

Hello and Welcome Readers, Authors, and Friends,

Cat had an amazing week meeting new author friends and was invited to be a guest on an awesome podcast that all my “ladies” need to know about! Please meet Candace Gish. Candace is the founder of “Divas That Care Network.” She is also the host of the podcast of the same name and has several women who host shows on Divas. Candace is a best-selling author too.

I really enjoyed being interviewed on her podcast this past week, as you will hear just how much fun we had doing so as she wanted me to share some of what I do here through “Cat Lyon’s Reading Den & Lyon Literary Services” and how I enjoy helping other authors learn how to market their books and branding.

Let’s learn a little more about Candace and all she does with the Divas! But first? Here is the link to the episode we did, and I hope you will take some time to listen. I even shared some of my marketing tips with all her listeners!

Divas That Care Network

About Candace ~ Join Diva Host Candace Gish as she interviews a variety of committed women weekly, who are working to make the world a better place!

Candace is an independent businesswoman who understands the challenges women face in business, including how to be successful. She also understands the importance of having mentors and a strong support network. Her four daughters and wonderful husband inspire her to work for a better world. She loves connecting with women who have big dreams and the commitment to make a difference. She believes in the power of women when they come together to effect change, which is what the Divas That Care movement is all about.

Hello! My name is Candace Gish, I’m a motivator and empowering change agent who understands the challenges women face while finding success in their everyday lives and businesses. I am an advocate for mentorship and strong, supportive networks. My four daughters and wonderful husband have inspired me to create a better world, thus the Divas That Care Network was born. I enjoy connecting with goal-oriented women and a commitment to make a difference. I believe in the power of women converging to implement change and have ensured that the purpose of the Divas That Care movement quantifies just that.

I created the Divas That Care Network because I am the mother of four beautiful girls who look to me to model the hope and countless opportunities that lie in their futures. I recognize and salute the power that a true DIVA holds. A strong, informed, and empowered woman is a force to be reckoned with and admired. She will not back down or accept no for an answer. She works hard and pays her dues on her path to success, but not without often being overlooked and discounted by others, due to her self-assuredness. She is a lover, a giver, loyal, and dedicated, but her passion is often mistaken for overconfidence.

The Gish Family!

Why I Keep The Divas Going

Every day I get more and more inspired by the guests who have been on my show, they talk about their lives, dreams, fears, motivation, ways to help themselves or others, things that can be hard to talk about, and so much more. How can you not get inspired when listening to these amazing women. My continued desire to provide a proper example for my girls as other women inspires me to keep moving forward and NEVER give up.
