Now my readers know I only ask a few questions of all my guest authors, as I am not like James Lipton of The Actors Studio. LOL. Here are the questions I asked of Jennifer and how she answered them.

1.)
How did you become a writer?
I wrote my first short story at the ripe ol’ age of 5. My mom had received her first acceptance letter concerning her children’s story and I wanted to be a writer just like her.

2.) How did you decide to publish your work?
I put my writing on the back burner for years and then picked it up again. I immediately had 2 stories published in magazines, and a few years later another in a literary magazine. My last two shorts, I worked with Gloria Kempton and Karlyn Thayer from Writer’s Digest and self-published on Amazon. My stories had moved more into new adult and I wasn’t finding magazines that were taking stories with the themes I was writing.

3.) What are a few things readers may not know about you that you would like to share?
I’m a private person, but I’m one of the women that beat the odds and escaped a nightmare of an abusive marriage. I moved myself and two children two thousand miles from everything I knew and started over. I was bound and determined I was going to move forward, and I did. I’ve had success with my writing and I also have my own business. There is hope.
– – – – – – – – –

Jen’s answer to question three had me get a little misty eyed. I know how difficult it can be to share personal experiences. Just like when I write about my own on life trials on my recovery blog.

I am sure that Jennifer would agree with me when I say that sharing these types of personal experiences of negative trials in our lives, they can be of help to others who maybe going through them now. It does give others hope like Jen mentioned. And we need to speak out about these topics as to raise awareness.

So let us learn more about Jennifer’s two current E-books that are short stories, as they deal with these types of life trials and triumphs. . .

Now available on Amazon.com in E-book and Promo Priced at $2.99 . . .

He has worked on this project for a while now, as to put all of his fantastic short stories in e-book form for all readers to enjoy. Here is a little more about his new book release.. .. ..

About The Book of Short Stories ~ Volume 1

This book, a collection of short stories, is something different. During the past two years, while writing the three novels now published as E-books on Amazon.com, my mind was constantly plagued with fragments of ideas for short stories. Some were so demanding, I had to push aside the novel I was working on to write that particular short story. During these two years, I’ve written 48 short stories. The stories themselves are quirky extracts, partly from my own experiences and partly from people around me. Most have a surprising twist at the end, which probably confirms how I see life. I have enjoyed writing these real-life stories, albeit with a little bit of imagination thrown in to the mix.

About The Author:
Wayne Andrewartha is an accountant by day, and a Crime fiction writer by night. He calls Auckland, New Zealand home.

Since he was a small boy, he has always wanted to write books. His love of traveling and his vivid imagination are obvious throughout his crime novels. His newest novel is packed full of action as Private Detective, Jake Shaw faces impossible odds to rescue the wife of a client. It is guaranteed to keep you turning the pages which readers of crime stories will thoroughly enjoy.

And there is more ….

Wayne has written two other novels, Diamonds of Death and the much praised sequel, Roll of the Dice. For action/thriller fans, they are a must read and highly recommended. In addition, he has written many short stories which are now in e-book form for all readers to enjoy.

Wayne enjoys reading good books, gardening, and ten pin bowling. He enjoys watching sports like rugby, motor sports, and football. He is a member of The New Zealand Rotary and was bestowed,  “The Paul Harris Fellowship Award” Rotary’s highest honor.

Wayne has his second novel series, just released a few months ago titled; What Goes Around, (Jake Shaw Private Eye, Book 1) Now available on Amazon Kindle and now his new book of short stories that both men and women will find enjoyable and interesting to read.

“Lyon Book Promotions Review Spotlight For “Anything For Amelia,” By: Author Andrew Branham.”

Hello and Welcome Readers,

anything2

Well, I just finished Author, Andrew C. Branham’s new book, a memoir of his experience of adopting his daughter sweet Amelia. Andrew and partner DJ, explain the “HELL they went through, and what a ride these dads have been on. Reading Andrew’s book really opened my eyes to how our adoption process and system is so broken. Even the legal process a couple has to go through when they decide to start a family through adoption is also very broken.

And even though Andrew and DJ are two gay partners who had the desire to start a family together? By no means is this book just about gay couples wanting to adopt. It is about ALL couples who have to go through the same system they did to adopt. Yes, his book gives you an in-depth look for the LGBT community who are thinking of doing the same? But all couples go through a similar process. And Andrew had many obstacles to get over while this process played for them. I also want readers to know that Andrew and his partner are strong advocates of adoption and continue to help other families in the adoption process. 20% of his profits will be donated to the U.S. foster care system.

Here is a little about the book/memoir titled; Anything For Amelia: A true story of the challenges endured by two gay men who had the desire to adopt a child.

About The Memoir:
A true story of the challenges endured by two gay men who had the desire to adopt a child.

When Andrew and DJ decided to adopt and bring a child into their lives, little did they know what they were about to endure; yet never did the thought cross their minds to give up. The horrific, pitilessly, and beyond comprehensible hoops one woman would make them jump through demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that little Amelia was going to be much better off in the loving home that Drew and DJ could provide her. Just when you think, how can two people survive such a nightmare and the journey is just about over when little Amelia is born and will be safely in the arms of her loving dads, Sandi decides to pull one more shenanigan that could change their lives forever.

More than 10 million adults have been adopted or fostered in their childhood. Along with spiraling increases in adoptions comes a growing need to disclose the significant flaws in adoption laws that open the doors to fraud, manipulation, and abuse of the system. AMELIA is the first book to explore this dark side of the adoption process through the true story of one couple’s journey through hell. Called “the most difficult adoption in U.S history, by adoption experts, the book appeals to nearly all families (traditional and non-traditional) interested in adoption, foster parenting, or surrogacy
.
An amazing book filled with tips, advice, and eye-opening first-hand accounts, this is one feel-good story that serves an important purpose and fills a critical gap in adoption literature. – D. J. Herda

My Book Review of ‘Anything For Amelia.”
First I want to let readers know this book/memoir hit Amazon’s #1 Best Seller list for LGBT Memoir/Biography reads, and currently has 100% 5 Star Amazon Book Reviews. .. ..

An Amazing True Story Of Adoption and A New Beautiful Family.

on September 28, 2015
What more can I add to many other fantastic reviews of Andrew Branham’s new book titled, ‘Anything for Amelia’ that has not been written already. Very well written account of a truly heartwarming, and at times heartbreaking experience both Andrew and DJ had to face until the sweet victory of having a family they desperately wanted with Amelia as their daughter. I also came away from this book realizing that our adoption system is badly broken in this country. No parents should have to battle like Andrew had to start a family through the adoption system. Way to many open loop holes in our flawed system.

I want to echo what another reader mentioned in their review, that his book is not just about two gay men wanting a child, nor about the LGBT community. This is real lives, going through real pain when they came to many heart breaking road blocks in their process of adopting Amelia.

I feel more legal rights need to lean for the couples adopting than most all for the birth mother. Yes, much is and can be done through the legal process, but not through a broken system. and this book is proof how corrupt our system is, and seems to lean way more toward the birth mother, and not the family adopting. Very unfair balance.

As a book reviewer point of view, Andrew did an exceptional job with writing such an in-depth personal journey that will help many parents adopting now after Andrew and DJ, to use his book as a guide of what to expect when adopting a child. What a legacy to leave behind for his family and for all who read his book. My heart goes out to them of the heartaches they had to go through, but in the end? Just take one look at Sweet Amelia, and I’m sure she makes it all worth IT! . . . .

Excellent & Highly Suggested Read!  ~ ~ Author, Catherine Townsend-Lyon

A Few more Readers Reviews on Amazon:

Amazing story of Love
This book is a heart wrenching depiction of a difficult adoption story. Although the difficult process was detailed….heartbreaking to say the least. But the beautiful theme that cannot be overshadowed is Love….fight for love no matter how difficult the battle! Amazing story thank you for sharing it with the world. Highly Suggested Read!

Great read! The emotional roller coaster of the open …

Great read! The emotional roller coaster of the open adoption from hell! Even knowing how the story ended, I couldn’t put the book down as I had to see what Sandi would come up with next. She is a character so evil that she couldn’t be made up; what she put Drew and DJ through for the duration of her pregnancy is truly evil! There is something wrong with the adoption laws if people like this can hold prospective parents hostage. I don’t know the answer but this shows that it is a question worth asking. Amazing that one woman could impact so many in such a negative manner. I only hope that CPS did their job; there are so many sympathetic characters in this story that you’ll find yourself rooting for all of them!

“Thoughts from an Attorney:”

“The best adoption memoir currently on the market. Why is it the best? Because it is 100% transparent and honest. No other book will give you such a candid look at the darker side of adoption. This is a must read for all adoptive or soon to be adoptive families.”   – Anonymous Adoption Attorney

Great Indie Authors, Presents, … Author, Vinnie Sorce

Me headshot

of Chino Valley, Arizona

A Short Bio

Vinnie Sorce is an award-winning* author debuting his first book, Jersey Justice.

He’s been a writer for over ten years, selling articles and short stories along with blogging.

He grew up in North Jersey and currently lives in Arizona with one remaining child that hasn’t escaped yet. He likes to read, watch too much TV, wear his heart on his sleeve, and over examine situations that haven’t occurred yet.

Oh, and he eventually wants to save the world. No super powers are making that a difficult job, though.

*Now, when I say award-winning, I mean an award I made up and gave to myself. It was a beautiful ceremony. I cried.
.

Kev: What is your latest book about?

JerseyJustice.

It’s about a bullied youth who grows up to help people who can’t help themselves. His life is complicated by his off the wall sister, and his best childhood friend, Marci, who is slowly becoming his lover.

Kev: Who or what influenced you to write it?

Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie plum series was my influence. I grew up in North Jersey and loved the idea of having it set in such a familiar place.

Kev: Did you do any specialised research for your story?

Nope. Since the location was so familiar that was easy, and it’s fiction, so I improvised everything else!

Kev: What challenges did you face while writing the story?

The absolute biggest challenge was finding the time to write. A full-time job, and three kids make that difficult.

Kev:  Who is the protagonist?

Jimmy Vincent is my main man. I came up with his name and the title, Jersey Justice, first.

Kev: What would you say is the protagonist’s greatest weakness or obstacle and why?

His biggest weakness is his want to save the world and knowing he can’t do that.

Kev: What would you say is the main antagonist’s greatest strength?

He doesn’t realize it, but his greatest strengths are the people (characters) around him.

Kev: Could you provide a short passage from your book to give us a taster?

JerseyJustice“What the hell did you do?” he asked in dismay, hand to his head and covered in blood.

“I fought back,” was all I said calmly with a smile as I walked away, tucking the pistol into my jacket pocket. From now on, it would always be with me. This was a message to the scum of the world. From now on, it would be different.

Kev: Do you use some kind of formula when you write?

Not even a little bit. I just sit and write and it comes tumbling out. . . .

Kev: Preference for writing: Day or Night?

Not so much a preference as necessity. I write at night after work and after dinner.

Kev: What is your editing process?

When I have no juice left I start rereading what I already have and go from there.

Kev: Who creates your book covers?

I have a marketing friend who created this cover.

Kev: How do you promote your work?

Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn I also just hired a promoter who is getting me and the book out there.

Kev: What advice would you offer to new authors?

Don’t give up is the biggest advice I could give. Just keep writing and submitting, or go ahead and self-publish.

Kev: Which two social media platforms do you use the most and why?(Include links)

Twitter and Facebook are the two I use the most. I guess because I understand them, and am the most familiar with them.

https://twitter.com/vinniesorce

https://www.facebook.com/Vinnie.sorce.author

Kev: Do you have a website?

https://vinster82.wordpress.com/628-2/

Kev: Is there anything else you would like to add?

I am currently 80 pages into the sequel, Jersey Jezebel. Look for it soon!

Vinnie sorce, everyone!

About The Novel:
Jake Shaw, ex policeman, now private eye, isn’t too fussy about the kind of cases he handles. His cash flow won’t permit him that luxury. His wife has been kidnapped, and the kidnappers have threatened to kill her if he doesn’t do exactly as they say.

But the kidnappers have a unique request, which takes Jake by surprise. What is even more frustrating is that his client has lied to him, placing him in a life and death struggle to survive.

About The Book:
My name is Jimmy Vincent; I “fix” things.
Some people think I’m in the Mafia; I’m not.
Some people think I’m a hit man; I’m not.
Some people think I’m crazy?
They’re right.”

“I live in Jersey. I was brought up on a strict diet of sarcasm, bullies, and being a disappointment to my father. I help people who can’t help themselves. I’ve turned my bullied past into a one-man private army of retribution for the silent majority, too afraid to speak.”
.

That night-I still have nightmares. It happened so quickly, so effortlessly. Walking to our cars in the far parking lot one fall night, we were jumped from behind. Eric hit the pavement quickly with a gash on his head. Blood trickled down his ear and he was dazed. I looked up to see the attackers. One was a large Puerto Rican kid, over six feet tall, who had hit Eric on the head with a piece of pipe. Even in the chilly air, he was wearing only a black muscle t-shirt and jeans. An American flag bandana covered his head and a diamond stud decorated his left ear.

A snake tattoo on his right arm completed the picture. His accomplice was an overweight black man of medium height with no distinguishing features. He wore a Yankees cap and a black leather jacket. His pants were riding low, and his boxers showed in the rear. I didn’t know what kind it was, but a gun of some sort was stuck in his waistband. As they came at me, I just stood there, frozen. I wasn’t terrified like I thought I should be. My breathing was calm and easy, my eyes focused on the six-footer first. I was angry. I was sick and tired of the world being this way for me, and for others like me.
It had finally become time to fight back .. .. ..  JERSEY JUSTICE.

About The Author:
Andrew C. Branham was born in the culturally rich town of Lorain, Ohio – a few miles West of Cleveland and on the shores of Lake Erie. He is the son of two educators and has an older sister that lives in Michigan.

Upon graduation, Andrew entered the business world working for a major food company. He quickly climbed the corporate ladder and was soon promoted. As his career continued to flourish, he relocated to different cities 12 times (all over the United States).

The cause was breast cancer, her family said in a statement.

Long before the emergence of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise, Ms. Collins dominated the publishing industry’s more lascivious corners.

She wrote more than 30 books, many of them filled with explicit, unrestrained sexuality, and sold more than 500 million copies worldwide. Her first novel, “The World Is Full of Married Men,” was published in 1968. Australia and South Africa banned it because of its frank depiction of extramarital sex. Other earlier works included “The Stud,” in 1969, and “Rock Star,” in 1988.

Ms. Collins, the younger sister of the actress Joan Collins, wrote her books in longhand on either white printer paper or yellow legal pads, regularly churning out prodigious numbers of pages.

Writing in The New York Times in 1993, Barry Gewen said of Ms. Collins’s “American Star: A Love Story” that it might more appropriately be titled “Coming Up for Air.”

In 2006, reviewing her “Lovers & Players” in The Times, the critic Janet Maslin described Ms. Collins’s writing as “crypto-celebrity gamesmanship” in which the author “maneuvers her characters through a story as if she were playing by a strict set of rules.”

Many of Ms. Collins’s novels became fodder for movies and television mini-series. In 2001, for instance, she published “Hollywood Wives: The New Generation,” which followed “Hollywood Wives,” “Hollywood Husbands,” “Hollywood Kids” and “Hollywood Divorces.” It became a New York Times best seller and, in 2003, was made into a TV movie starring Farrah Fawcett, Robin Givens, Jack Scalia and Melissa Gilbert.

She was found to have stage-four breast cancer in 2007, according to People magazine’s website, and had written five books since then. Her latest, 600-plus-page novel, “The Santangelos,” was published in June.

In an interview in 2007 with The New York Times Magazine that coincided with the publication of her 25th book, “Drop Dead Beautiful,” Ms. Collins said she did not care what reviewers would say about it.

“I never pretended to be a literary writer,” she said. “I’m a school dropout.”

She said in the interview that she did not feel that the increasingly explicit nature of pop culture made her fiction seem quaint.

“YES, a very sad day for authors and writers around the world. She truly will be missed by many.”
