You registered on WordPress.com 3 years ago. Thanks for flying with us.
Keep up the good blogging.
.
So, it has been 3 years ago today that I started this little thing called “Blogging.”
All I wanted to do was continue my recovery journey with others who may be suffering from gambling addiction like had. It was my way of sharing and continuing my recovery journey from my book titled, “Addicted To Dimes, Confessions of a Liar and a Cheat.”
It was MY way to advocate, raise awareness, and inform the public about the dangers and devastation of this addiction, of this cunning disease. But when I started out I had no idea how others would take my blog about gambling addiction. There were very few blogs here on WordPress about addiction and recovery that I could find, and I was scared if people would “judge me?” I figured, “what the hell,” my whole life is out in the world in book form, so I had no secrets anymore.
.
.
I felt it deep within my heart and my faith that it was the right thing to do. To blog and advocate about this awful addiction and see what kind of feedback I would get. I can honestly say, everyone in the past three years that have come followed my blog here and left comments have been mostly Spectacular! The WordPress community embraced me with open arms, open hearts, and understanding. So, what more could I ask for?
Well, I will tell you. Currently, my recovery community is at 7,414 followers and my visitor count as of today is 34,964 Visits! SO, in the words of “Sally Fields at The Oscars? They Love Me! They really, really love me!!” LOL …
Now, of course, I am NOT that vain, but I feel that my recovery blog here on WordPress is an important blog. Again, there are many recovery blogs here on WP, but very few are about Recovery from Gambling Addiction …
As the first year or so went on, I finally also opened up and shared here on my WordPress blog about my mental health challenges as I am “dual diagnosed,” meaning I live in recovery from addiction and battle mental health challenges. I was getting tired of reading about how STIGMA was hurting and holding back many from seeking treatment for mental health issues. Not to mention all the news reports of mass shootings that were happening all over the US. So I decided to step out of the shadows of shame for having mental/emotional disorders and challenges. And again? My WordPress community embraced me once more.
.
.
Again, I wanted full disclosure as to my mental health so I could advocate that there is no shame in being diagnosed with mental health illness. Be it mental or medical, it is time for those who don’t suffer have more empathy and understanding of what is like living with mental and emotional disorders. It can for many be very debilitating and painful.
So we don’t need to add more in the mix by having to include shame, embarrassment, or stigma, to make those who suffer feel worse. I always say, “kindness is a choice” and takes much less energy than HATE. Because sadly, those who don’t understand or even want to, and there are many, need to back off ….
So many recovery blessings have happened here while I have been blogging here on WordPress! After my book released, so many awesome things have come. Too many to list, but a few are:
And now most recently a brand new Recovery Author Columnist for a fantastic Premier Recovery Mag called: In Recovery Magazine ~ “The Author’s Cafe” which my first column
debuts in this June’s 2016 Issue!! We have over 25,000 recovery subscribers and mailed we mail out and can be purchased at over 800 locations worldwide.
So come subscribe today and be ready to read my Secret Special Premier Guest Author whose book will soon be in our magazine’s “The Book Stand.”
“Sharing The Magic Of Written Words Within Your Books!”
.
And what a year it was! My little online bookstore and promotions business keep growing and growing. I now have over 17 authors I book promote for and more on the way! So drop by my book promo blog here on WP above and come meet your new book!
I offer a little something different from other book promotions. I enjoy helping and teaching authors how and where they need to promote their fabulous books. I do all the social media legwork for them by setting up authors social media accounts, add their books to many free book sites for exposure to large readerships.
We also have loads of good things for readers too like books reviews, excellent new book releases, and author spotlights so readers learn more about our fine authors I promote. Let’s face it, many of us brand new authors are not always computer savvy, and navigating the inner works of social media sites to sign up maybe intimating to some authors …
So I do that and much more for affordable pricing that won’t “break the bank.”
And WordPress gave me everything I needed to get my new book promotions blog up and going by using all the free services they have here. So I would never host my blogs anywhere else!
So I will wrap up this WordPress Celebratory Anniversary post by saying a very Big Thank You to WordPress and to all my WP friends, family, followers, and all new visitors!!
Thank you for making my 3 years here on WordPress Special …
I’m happy to Welcome Author, Allen Currie and his book Titled; OPERATION PHOENIX to Lyon Book Promos.

Editorial Review:
“The seeds of a global perfect storm are sewn. Scientists caution of potential mega quakes, super disease, volcanic eruptions or solar flares. Population growth and industrial activities increasingly stress the environment. One Middle Eastern state after another erupts in civil war. (Sound familiar?)
And most insidious of all, the governments, central banks and banking industries of every developed country on the globe have been systematically building funeral pyres of paper under their respective economies, building them ever higher over the course of decades with mountains of debt, printed money and derivatives, just waiting for a spark, a match, a stray bolt of lightning…
In the novel, the protagonist, elite headhunter Gary Alden didn’t have a crystal ball, just a comprehensive study of the demise of empires past. He’d watched the alarming parallels with current events developing for some time. But he was one of very few. The vast majority don’t like to hear that the party is over, and aren’t apt to listen until it’s too late.
So, when the pyres do burst into flame, Gary must marshal his family and his resources – especially his expertise in recruiting specialists in various fields – to navigate a gauntlet of economic and social calamity, build a new community and preserve what they can of a modern standard of living before the ashes of another fallen empire scatter in the wind.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
.
A Canadian Author, Allen Currie resides in NW Ontario and enjoys nature and the outdoors. Part of the year this man of mystery hides deep in the Canada bush where who knows what he may be up to, but I hope it is crafting and writing more books. His release of ‘Operation Phoenix’ is now available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle Store. But I caught up with him and here is what Allen was willing to share ….
.
“I was born and raised on a dirt poor farm during the dirty ‘1930’s. Began into computers when you still walked inside them and taught computer operation and programming. I then went on to become a CFO and CEO. Dabbled into consulting, primarily with the most advanced banks in the world. I later switched to “competitive intelligence” consulting, whose evil twin is industrial espionage.
I now live in Ontario. Along the way, I climbed mountains, traveled around the world, and became a glider pilot and a sculptural hot glass artist collected by international museums.”
.
.
About The Book:
Are you comfortable with the state of the world today?
After decades of active mismanagement, neglect, greed, corruption and divorce from reality by humanity, the world reaches a tipping point. Having recognized the trend and studied thedemise of empires past, Gary marshals his resources to deal with a financial collapse and subsequent gauntlet of social upheaval. It’s a thrilling and for some, terrifying ride… # # # # # #
AUTHOR INTERVIEW:
Q – I read your bio and you have done a lot of unusual things. Computers when you still walked inside them, CFO and CEO, consultant to some of the world’s most advanced international banks, Glider Pilot, Hot Glass sculptural artist collected by international museums, world traveler, and now author. But before we get to that, one thing that intrigued me was Competitive Intelligence or CI. You say the evil twin to CI is Industrial espionage. Tell us about that.
“Well, the methods used in CI were really invented during World War 2. The Yanks needed spies in Japan, but they didn’t have many slanty eyed operatives. What is worse, a village on one side of a mountain speaks a different accent than a village on the other side of the same mountain. The North Islanders won’t even speak much to the Tokyo crowd because they are Gai jin – foreign devils. So any spy the Americans managed to find was going to stand out like a sore thumb, except in one small village where everyone knows everyone else.”
Q – You have been to Japan?
“Oh yes, I was briefly married to a Japanese I met in Tokyo. Mother nature likes to mix the gene pool. Anyway back to WW2. What the Americans did was to subscribe to every village newspaper in Japan. Of course, if there was going to be a factory built, the local paper would proudly write about how many people would be working at that plant, some idea of what they would be manufacturing, how many units would be produced, plus a lot of other details. Not only did the Americans know where to bomb to do away with critical things like bearings, but they learned almost exactly the capacity of the Japanese machine. They got 98% of what they wanted without leaving their desks.
Q – So, how does that lead to CI?
“CI is the art of gathering actionable information. Inferring information from other facts. If I ask someone who knows how many boxes for widgets a factory is ordering, I can be quite sure how many widgets they expect produce yearly. One of the more famous examples is about a company wanted to know secretly how many tons a competitor was shipping before they tried to take to take it over. They measured the rust on a railway spur leading to the plant and came up with an estimate that turned out to be within three percent of the actual.’
Q – Your intriguing thriller, “Operation Phoenix” seems to be positing the state of our society as we rush into turmoil. Are you predicting the end of the world?
“Definitely not the end of the world. I am predicting great change in our world, which some may think of as the end of the world as we know it. Change in the world is happening at a rate never before known to mankind. We are so accustomed to having some things, many of which most people don’t even understand, such as certain technologies advancing to solve various problems that crop up, that the world is reaching a tipping point on many fronts. Climate and weather change, over-population of our world, peak oil, financial excesses, super diseases, political short term solutions to real long-term problems, the list of possible tipping points goes on.”
Q – Political such as?
“Consider the hoo-haw that went on in the most recent debt ceiling debates in the US. If the debt ceiling wasn’t raised, the US would default. If the US cannot pay its debt now, how could it repay a greater amount? If it cannot pay its debt, it is bankrupt. When Iceland reached the same point a very few years ago and its banks required a bailout, Iceland said they are a commercial enterprise, and let them fail. No bailout. Particularly the UK screamed blue bloody murder because UK banks were heavily exposed to Iceland but the UK bailed its banks out. The result in Iceland was vicious but short lived. Today Iceland is doing very well economically, thank you.
.
They let nature release the stresses that had built up in the local economy. The last time that the Fed in the US did not interfere in an economic downturn was in 1919. That depression was probably the most vicious to that date, but short lived again. Eighteen months. The next depression, the dirty 30’s was history making. The government interfered and today’s estimates are that the resulting depression was doubled or tripled in depth and length because of that fiddling by government.
.
Today the pressures have built too much higher levels because of more “management”. The explosion will likely be much bigger. What makes it worse is that so many economies around the world have jumped on the same “management” theories. It will spread like wildfire. The US, Japan, and Europe are ‘Wily Coyote’ who is off the cliff but not yet looked down because of government “management” spin. Take the foul tasting medicine to cure the disease, otherwise, it becomes worse. But politicians loath to put forth “foul tasting” because they will lose their jobs. ”
Q- This is fascinating, but let’s get to your thriller novel. I didn’t notice any mention of CI. Is there a connection?
“On a very basic level, there is definitely a connection. CI is about information and using that information. It is a method of thinking. The ideas in the novel develop according to CI training. Some people would call it in a logical way. If there is debt, it will be paid somehow. Either to the lender or to mother nature if only in a damaged credit rating, but it will be paid. The world has not only been borrowing financially but environmentally, socially, more ways than I care to count. Sooner or later the piper has to be paid.”
Q – So why did you write Operation Phoenix only now? It describes the result of these tipping points that you say you have recognized since 1987?
In 1993 I decided I had to give back to humanity for having lived in the best time and place mankind has ever known. I had thought about the problem since 1987 and had slowly come to the conclusion I was somewhere near correct. It turns out I was amazingly so. My forecasts have been much closer than I ever believed possible. However, in any field, you have to pay your dues to become proficient. Writing is no different. The basic story has not changed. What I had to learn was how to write a story. And I had never written any more than a letter till that time. It would have been much easier to have simply stopped and gone to university and taken a journalism course.
Stupidly and stubbornly, I had to do it the hard way. I learned, but it took 18 or 19 years. Mind you, I had no idea at that time that economists could spin the situation out as long as it has. They have muddled through amazingly well. They have learned too.
Q- Well I read most of the free preview and reviews, what I read is well written. I found it rather fascinating. Tell us how we can get a copy and where readers can connect with you?
It is available online on Amazon and my website. You can download copy or order a hard copy which will be printed for you specifically. Delivery is in about a week depending on your method of shipping. Usually, I get mine in about four business days.
Go to Allen Currie Website You can find a free giveaway contest of an autographed book, and a forum to discuss the ideas in the novel or your questions, which I try to attend on a regular basis. (At least weekly if I am out of touch.) There is also an unusually long free sample read. You can connect with me on Allen Currie, Author on FB and on Allen Currie on Twitter …
(Now also available on Amazon & Amazon Kindle store)
” This book is a treat – ” I read this book many years ago, I have communicated with the author a number of times. This story is a work of art it is very entertaining and well done. I am not going to say more than buy the book and read it. It as a book written by a man who saw the future for what it was over 20 years ago.
I applaud the book and the man who wrote it.”

5 On-Page SEO Techniques That’ll Boost Your Rankings
Ranking his website on the first page of a search engine is every site owner’s dream. But it’s no child’s play, for sure. Lots of techniques need to be embraced. It should also include loads of hard work and proper planning.
‘When you have a website, all you want from it is regular traffic. And for that, your website needs to rank high on certain keywords. This is where search engine optimization (SEO) becomes relevant. Despite fears of SEO being dead, it is still very much alive and can help you do good business. All you need to do is make your website speak the search engine’s language. And once you do that with the help of effective SEO, you can see your website climb ranks in the search engine results.’
On-page SEO versus Off-page SEO
When it comes to optimizing your website for the search engine, you can have multiple options. You can either go for on-page or off-page SEO.
As the name suggests, on-page SEO involves all the tasks that you should perform on your website to make it rank high on the search engine results. Off-page SEO, on the other hand, refers to the activities that you have to do on websites other than your own to help your site garner a great rank on the search engine results.
While both are extremely important for the performance of a website, on-page SEO appears to be more popular and offers results within a shorter time. However, to get the best results, you have to embrace the right methods.
*Keywords in title, permalink, and first paragraph of the blog
Optimizing alt tag of an image with the keyword
Bold and italicized important keywords
Outbound link to relevant sites and inbound links to other articles on your own site
Inclusion of multimedia, such as video and images, along with text*
.
.
However, you’ll have to perform detailed SEO on the website for getting the best results. To start with, you will have to ensure that the content that you’re sharing on your website is unique. Remember, no duplicate content is allowed. So, if there’s any duplicate content anywhere on the website, it can have a negative impact on your website. So, you might find your site go down in the search engine result pages (SERPs). Moreover, the URLs should also not be duplicate. Otherwise, it might confuse the search engine bots and prevent your website from ranking high on the webpage.
So, where should you start? How can you perform the best on-page SEO?
Here’s a quick look at some of the most popular and result oriented on-page SEO techniques, which can help you take your site to the top of the search engine result pages within a short time.
*Focus on creating the title of the blog
Include various types of content
Ensure that the site is user-friendly
Check meta tags, meta keywords, and headlines
Perform internal linking in the blog*
Focus On The Blog Title
Planning to do on-page SEO for your website? Integrate a blog on the site. The blog posts play an extremely important role in ensuring that lots of visitors land on your website. But for this, you’ll have to ensure that they are properly optimized for the search engine.
How can you do that?
To start with, concentrate on the title of the blog post. It’s extremely important to include keywords in the title tag.
And these keywords should be placed towards the beginning of the title tag. However, you’ll have to ensure that no keyword is repeated in the title of the blog.
While writing a blog title, you might wonder what the right size for it should be. It’s wise to follow the best practices for title creation. You should keep the title within 65 characters, including the spaces, for the best performance.
Create Diversified Content
Yes, diversified content – that’s what your site needs if you are looking to perform on-page SEO to attract the attention of your visitors. Because that’s what the search engines want.
It refers to content, which is not limited to text. It should contain text as well as images and videos. Besides, it can also include graphs and graphics, audio, and other multimedia content. So, you should not keep the content of the site limited to chunks of text, but make them as attractive as possible to grab the attention of the readers.
The primary object is the make the website more engaging so that people spend more time there. This is going to reduce the bounce rate and help the SEO perspective of your website.
This is also going to help your site in another way. If you include several optimized images and videos, you can expect visitors from image search and video search results.
Make the Website User-Friendly .
Who is your target audience of your website?
This is a question that you should always ask when you are designing your website. That’s because the target audience should be your focus while creating the website. Remember, the more user-friendly your website is, the better it is going to perform in terms of on-page SEO.
So, how can you improve the user experience for your website?
The best way is to ensure a better user experience is to focus on the navigation of your website. In addition to making the website attractive, you should also ensure that when a visitor lands on your website, he should be able to move from one page to another with ease. The visitor should also find a way out from any page of your website to the other pages. This will stop him from leaving the website after going through a page. Moreover, the internal linking will also take the visitor from one blog post to another, thus preventing him from leaving the site.
The keywords and meta tags of your blog post play an extremely important role in enhancing the on-page SEO of your website. The meta tags include the meta keywords as well as the meta description. You need to write a meta description, which summarizes your blog post. However, it should not excess 160 characters, including the spaces. These meta descriptions should be written in clear and comprehensible English, which should help to increase the number of clicks on the blog post. However, meta keywords are not preferred in every search engine. While quite a few of the search engine impose importance on these meta keywords, Google does not. This video expresses it.
.
.
The heading structure of the website should also follow a proper pattern, which is recognized by the search engines. The title of the page should be properly formatted with headings or H1 titles, sub-headings or H2 titles, and so on.
The heading structure of the website should also follow a proper pattern, which is recognized by the search engines. The title of the page should be properly formatted with headings or H1 titles, sub-headings or H2 titles, and so on.
Must Link Different Parts of the Site in the Blog.
If you are looking to perform the on-page SEO of your website, then it’s a must for you to concentrate on linking. When you are doing off-page SEO, you can link the content shared on your website’s blog on various other platforms. For example, you can share the links on social media platforms, in content shared on other blogs, and so on. This will increase the back links to your website. This, no doubt, is extremely important for your website’s SEO. But you should also be performing internal linking, which is an integral part of on-site SEO.
So, what is internal linking?
While performing on-page SEO, you’ll have to link the content with other write-ups already shared on your blog. While you are creating new content for your blog, you should check whether any part of the new write-up is similar to the ones, which have been already shared on the blog of your website. This will provide you with multiple benefits. Internal linking helps:
.
*to keep the visitor on the website for a longer time and reduce bounce rate.
to ease the navigation of your website.
to distribute page authority throughout the website.
to improve the indexing of the page by the search engine.*
So, the process of internal linking will help to make the readers go from one page of the site to another. This is going to reduce the bounce rate of the site significantly, which, in turn, will help the site to rank high on the search engine result pages.
Conclusion
Doing the SEO for your website is a must. However, it’s not as easy as it sounds. A lot of websites these days are not properly optimized for the search engines. And when it comes to on-page SEO, many of the websites do it quite wrong. But, at times, you don’t even need off-page SEO if you can perform its on-page counterparts in a proper way. Because it can help you get maximum traffic. And all you need to do for it is embrace these steps, which can help your website rank high in the results for the keyword searches.
“I always enjoy sharing helpful articles I come across about book promoting and social media. And my dear friend Marsha Friedman from The PR Insider of EMSI Public Relationsalways has fantastic tips and advice on how to use social media to our advantage.
I also teach my authors I book promote for just how important social media is to promote their books through. It is about engagement when using social media.
Building a following also builds your readership. Here is what Marsha suggests to us about social media.”

Don’t Make This 5 Social Media Mistakes
Social media sites have become a powerful way to market your brand, but anyone who follows the news is aware they present pitfalls as well.
Companies end up apologizing over ill-advised tweets. Individuals create controversy with Facebook posts they thought were innocuous – or perhaps knew would be controversial but didn’t anticipate just how controversial.
If you’re like me, you probably have more than enough headaches without adding a social media blunder to the list! So to help you avoid some of the more common mistakes that businesses and individuals make, I asked EMSI’s social media team to chime in.
Here’s how they say many people go astray:
Treating every platform the same. Social media sites are different and you need to approach them differently. Facebook, for example, is the most consumer-friendly and the first place most people go, whether they want to share photos of their grandchildren or learn what others have to say about their experiences with a business. LinkedIn is better for business and professional purposes. Twitter, with its character limit on messages, is the high-speed, information-now site. It’s a great place to check news updates. You also can get away with posting more often here than you can on other sites.
.
Posting too frequently – or not frequently enough. You want a happy balance here. Some people flood their followers with Facebook posts. It becomes too much of a good thing and your followers’ eyes glaze over as they scroll quickly past your latest post – perhaps thinking, “Oh, no! Not him or her again!” On the other hand, out of sight is out of mind. If you rarely post, then your followers forget about you – and that’s not good either.
.
Failing to use hashtags. When you are on Twitter or Instagram, you are trying to become part of the conversation. The hashtag allows more people to see your contributions to that conversation. For example, if you were on Twitter and tweeted something without a hashtag, only your followers would see it. (Unless, of course, they re-tweeted it to their followers.) But if you use a hashtag, any number of people could end up being exposed to what you have to say.
.
Using poor spelling or incorrect grammar. I don’t want to become the Punctuation Police here, but it’s important to project a professional image. Misspelled words and problems with subject/verb agreement create the opposite effect. That means you need to remember what Mrs. Schubert taught you back in your high school English class. If you are unsure about a word’s spelling or the grammar in a particular sentence, look it up. Your computer can help some here, but don’t let those computerized spelling and grammar checks become a crutch. They don’t catch everything. For example, they will skip right past it if you use “their” when you should have used “there.”
.
Posting offensive or inappropriate material. You can ruin years of goodwill in an instant if your social media sites are used to post something that many people find offensive. You would think that’s easy enough to avoid. But not necessarily. Sometimes it might not be clear to you that a particular post or tweet could strike people the wrong way, so be careful out there. Here’s an example where a careless moment resulted in social media backlash. During this year’s Oscars, Total Beauty, an online publication, tweeted how delighted it was to learn that Oprah Winfrey has tattoos. Just one problem. The woman in the Oscar photo accompanying the tweet was Whoopi Goldberg, not Oprah Winfrey. Critics pounced on the publication, and some mocked the mistake by posting their own tweets mixing up white celebrities. Total Beauty apologized.
Ouch! Yes, there are potential downsides if you’re not careful about what you’re doing. But such blunders aside, social media is a powerhouse marketing tool.
That’s why I maintain that the biggest social media mistake – by far – is not to be on social media at all. Go visit The PR Insider Marsha Friedman Today for more tips!

Lizzie is just barely making it as a waitress when she meets Dr. Grant Chatsworth, and their quick courtship ends in what seems to be a picture-perfect marriage. Not only is Dr. Chatsworth tall and good-looking, but he is also a renowned cardiac surgeon and researcher into a new treatment for congestive heart failure. But when Lizzie moves into Dr. Chatsworth’s estate, things begin to go sour very quickly.
Lizzie soon finds herself a captive, cut off from her sister Maggie—her only family—under Housekeeper Flossie’s increasingly baleful eye. She is miserable and wants to leave: not only does she no longer love Grant, but she is increasingly suspicious that his research might be bogus. During a party intended to lure wealthy investors for her husband’s research, Lizzie faints. Flossie immediately suspects that she’s pregnant, which galvanized Lizzie into launching an escape plan.
Clara, Dr. Chatsworth’s nurse, also suspects he might be up to something, and joins causes with Lizzie, skimming money from the practice to help Lizzie escape to her sister’s house. Only able to venture outside after dark, Lizzie finds a gravestone in the Old Biloxi City Cemetery, labeled only “Baby Belle”. Feeling that Baby Belle is trying to contact her from beyond the grave gives Lizzie purpose, especially when she realizes the graves in that area are all labeled “Lunatic”. Lizzie is determined to unravel the mystery of Baby Belle and to achieve justice for the little lamb whose gravestone doesn’t even bear her last name.
As Grant Chatsworth’s empire begins to crumble, he becomes determined to find Lizzie and kill her before she can reveal what she knows. Can Lizzie stay hidden long enough to have her baby? Will Grant Chatsworth be shown up for the fraud that he is? Will the mystery of Baby Belle’s life and death save Lizzie, or kill her before Grant Chatsworth can?
Kim Carter’sSweet Dreams, Baby Belle is a fast-paced action story with a subplot of messages from beyond the grave. It’s just the slightly spooky thing for readers who are interested in psychic phenomena.
