About This Fantastic Biography:
.
*** FIRST PLACE WINNER of the Florida Writers Association 2014 Royal Palm Literary Award for Biography ***

Begotten With Love is a sometime turbulent, sometime rollicking story spanning 150 years of American history and five generations of an immigrant’s family. The stories on these pages are tales of courage, triumph, folly and forgiveness. You’ll laugh and cry as the author brings each generation to life and lets you live the experiences as the characters and plots unfold. As one reader put it, “It reads like fiction . . . but it’s not!”

Based on the author’s 30 years of research, the book brings to life each generation and lets the readers live the experiences as the characters and plots unfold.

“My family is a writer’s dream,” Glim said, “filled with remarkable characters but then every family has its share of dreamers and doers, cowards and cads, heroes and heroines. I hope after reading Begotten With Love you will love my family as much as I do . . . warts and all. More than that, I hope you will love your family even more!”
.

About The Author:
.
Award Winning Author, Jo Ann V. Glim
.
Jo Ann V. Glim‘s professional career (as a disc jockey and copy-writer) began in the late 1960s in Chicago on the all jazz radio station WSDM-FM when she answered a help wanted ad in the Chicago Tribune which  boldly  stated: No experience necessary. The 24-year-old  (whose  personal  life  was  in shambles — a  six-year marriage on the rocks and no marketable job skills) laughingly thought, “For once, I qualify”!
.

.
That  was  the “glamorous” side of her career. One she is grateful to have enjoyed but she was also fascinated by the  inner   workings of business management and now, remarried and living in the suburbs, wanted to experience corporate life. Glim began as a file clerk with Kelly Services and throughout the years took advantage of every business class Kelly and local junior colleges offered.  Sixteen years later, Glim retired as an on-site manager at “Baxter Healthcare’s Human Resources (IV Systems) division” . . . still employed through Kelly Services.
.
The one constant in Glim’s life has been writing. As a forty-year veteran of freelance writing. with credits to her name for “Hallmark Cards” and one-liners for nationally known comedians . .  . And for the rest of Jo Ann’s fabulous life story, you just have to visit her Author Website at: www.BegottenTheBook.com  … You can even read a sample of her book while your there too!
.
I have known Jo Ann, my “Florida Girl” for a long while now, and I believe we met through Twitter & Facebook. But we do see each other a lot on Social Media. She has always engaged and interacted with me on both sites, and when she sent the direct message of her good news of winning this fabulous award, I told her I just had to “Spotlight” it for her!
Then, …. I got sick with an upper ling infection. So I’m sorry girl this took way to long to share your *Special Honor & Award*!! “But you know Jo Ann I always got your back dear”!! Now I do have her book added to my Goodreads “Want To Read” book list, and when I’m done, I’ll be doing a nice Blog Post Review her for you when I’m done reading!
.
See, that’s what it’s all about, authors helping and networking together to help all of us be Successful as authors & writers!

In 1814, the war being raged on the seas of the Indian Ocean by the all-powerful
Franco-British naval forces trying to dominate the lucrative trade routes to India, had
ended with a truce. At the stroke of a pen, far away in the city of Paris, the exotic,
tropical islands of the Seychelles became a British colony. Forged from their French descendants and African slave roots, and molded by their new British rulers, a
small nation had emerged.
.
It is July 1912 on the island of Mahé, and Anna Savy has just turned sixteen.
Anna is a passionate, nature-loving and rebellious young woman at a time when
women are confined to specific roles and expectations, and custom and tradition
prevail with reverence. Strongly held beliefs in the goodness and righteousness of God,
and in the secret and evil forces of witchcraft, hold equal sway in a closely knit
Catholic community.

As a young nurse, Anna experiences both the joy and pain of her people, for survival is
a daily struggle for the majority. A smallpox epidemic brings tragedy to Mahé’s
Victoria Hospital, with the hatred and conflict between Anna’s British and Irish
colleagues laid bare, whilst forbidden love brings the missing dimension to her life.
But then, the First World War brings the worst possible disaster…

 By N. Tirant-Gherardi

“From the opening lines the reader is drawn into a period long since evolved”.

“The author manages to skillfully hold the reader’s attention as the story develops
its numerous threads that set the stage for a flurry of love and passion in the midst of hardships”.

“Her penmanship is particularly remarkable in the manner in which she paints the
historical backdrop to the stage setting as she introduces the main players whose lives
and passions intertwine with the historical events of that period”.

“But perhaps to the author’s greatest credit is the illustration of the profound relationship
that develops between the two main characters, Anna and her beloved Louis. The reader
is drawn into this romance through the author’s touch for detail and ability to convey
those inner emotions to which we can all relate”.

“At the end of the day, the echoes from Anna’s oasis are of love, passion, hate and
revenge – all those human traits that make for a very powerful read indeed”.

Update of Author, Jack Barr Along with Jana & Marley Barr’ Raising Awareness of Down Syndrome One Book at a Time.

Hello and Welcome Readers, Friends, and Visitors,

.

Failing at Fatherhood: A book for the imperfect father

.
A while back I had shared a ‘Author Spotlight’ of Author, Jack Barr, and his wife and daughter, Jana & Marley Barr.
Jack’s book had just released on Barnes & Noble, and on Amazon. This is a very special family, and close to my heart as well. Jack & Jana’s little girl was born with Down Syndrome. And Jack’s book is about sharing his feelings when he came to find that little Marley had this disease. Here is how Jack describes the feelings he felt a few days later when their Doctor told them Marley may have Down Syndrome ….

About The Book:

“The day my daughter Marley was born, I went straight to the nursery and held her for well over two hours. I just held her and cried because I had never experienced such a love for anyone or anything in my life. I think the nurses thought I was crazy because eventually they told me I needed to go be with my wife. Three days later, before we left the hospital, the pediatric doctor told us she thought Marley might have Down syndrome. My reaction: Are you freaking kidding me? I immediately had a panic attack.”

Thus begins the brutally honest account of a new father who struggles with his faith, his family, and mostly himself as he comes to grips with the prospect of raising a child with a disability.

The author, Jack Barr, does not hold anything back as he shares his questions and his pain. Through a process of understanding, love, prayer, faith, and support from others, the author’s perspective changes and he comes to realize the beautiful blessing that has been given to him and the privilege it is to be a father.

“Failing at Fatherhood” is indeed a book for the imperfect father and it will help any parent who may be struggling through a crisis of faith. By sharing Jack’s story, one will grow in their perspective on life and God so that they may better understand their own role as a parent and spouse”.

.

.
Now, through his new book, Jack has been able to help, mentor, and share his story as a fathers point of view when getting such devastating news of a child, his child with a life threatening illness. I know what it is like getting that type of news myself. My husband Tom and I have a niece on his side that was born with Down Syndrome. And she has had a pretty tough life with surgery’s and leukemia. But today, she is doing well and brings all of us such joy!

So I know how difficult it is for the Barr family. They have done a such an awesome job Raising Awareness of this disease, and have helped many families that to have kids with down syndrome. So I wanted to share some important updates on what they have been up to, and some really wonderful things have been happening since the release of the book as well. Here first is a little about the Barr family. And if you have not yet read Jack’s book titled; Failing at Fatherhood, A book for the imperfect father … I urge you to order yours today and be inspired how a tragic illness can bring Faith and Blessings to a family like the Barr’s …

About The Barr Family ~ Jack, Jana, and Sweet Marley …

.
Jack Barr
.
Three years ago, Jack and Jana did not know God would use their daughter Marley, to forever alter their life plan. Marley was born with Down syndrome and that event sent Jack crashing into a sea of depression. “I could not overcome the question of, Why us God”? Since that day, Jack and Jana have rerouted their plan to align with God’s plan. They started, If They Had A Voice, an awareness campaign that focuses on Down syndrome abortions. Their story has been featured on CNN, CNN Mexico, Life Action News, and The Insight Channel. Jack has also released his first book, Failing at Fatherhood, which has been endorsed by Bob Russell, S.A. Bodeen, and Woodroll Kroll. Jack & Jana had a simple plan for their future, but God has forced them to trust in HIS plan.
.
Jack and Jana Barr are missionaries in Bangkok, Thailand.  Before their first date, they both knew God was calling them to serve overseas.  After completing their undergraduate degrees at Johnson University, and their graduate degrees (Jack M.Ed. Regent University, M.Sc. Canisius College/ Jana M.A. Lee University) they flew to Bangkok for the first time.  For the past nine years they have served God by teaching at the International Community School in Bangkok, Thailand.

“Jana and I wanted to be self-supportive and earning our graduate degrees provided us with that opportunity.  But beyond that, the graduate degrees we earned prepared us to teach and live cross culturally.  Our college courses forced us to step outside our comfortable environment of teaching first language learners and embrace second language teaching.  Most importantly, our professors prepared us for a chaotic life of change that accompanies living overseas.”

Now, … A New Publisher Press Release For “Failing at Fatherhood” Author, Jack Barr …

F o r  I m m e d i a t e   R e l e a s e —- …

Failing at Fatherhood: a book for the imperfect father to be released by Trinity Grace Press in November

Orlando, FL / October 13, 2014 – Trinity Grace Press is proud to announce the forthcoming release in paperback and as an e-book for the Amazon Kindle, the Apple iBookstore, and the Barnes & Noble Nook, of  Failing at Fatherhood: a book for the imperfect father  by Jack Barr of King, North Carolina. The release is scheduled for November 10th.
.
Starting with an article on CNN, the author, Jack Barr, tells his deeply personal story as a new father who learns that his child has Down syndrome. The resulting fear and anxiety quickly overwhelms him to the point where he takes drastic actions that are vividly recounted in his book Failing at Fatherhood. His calling to be a missionary in Thailand alongside his wife serves as the backdrop to this story of failure—but also one of redemption because the glowing embers of his faith compel him to change his path and become the father that he is meant to be.

Dr. Woodrow Kroll, former president and senior bible teacher of Back to the Bible International had this to say:

Raw.  Emotional.  Honest.  That’s Jack Barr, wearing his emotions on his sleeve, in his book Failing at Fatherhood.  If you’ve ever been traumatized by the birth of an imperfect baby, if you’ve ever found yourself in the pit of despair questioning God and wondering how you will cope, the story of Jack, his wife Jana, and their precious little Marley will not only touch your heart, it will wrench it.  But there is hope in their story—the hope that only a good God can bring.  Read Failing at Fatherhood and prepare to be changed.

John McClure, senior editor of Trinity Grace Press, states, “When I first read about Jack’s story on CNN, I knew that we had to help get his story out –one of redemption through God’s grace. For we have all failed but Jack is just more honest about it than most of us. The key is not giving up and to accept God’s mercy and to go forward with our mission in life. Jack’s book helps us all see that and understand it better.”

Failing at Fatherhood  (ISBN: 978-1-940145-30-3, Trade Paper, 164 pages, $13.99, Non-Fiction/Christian Life/Family) from Trinity Grace Press, will be released November 10, 2014 but is available now for pre-order.

About Jack Barr Jack and Jana Barr started the If They Had A Voice awareness campaign that focuses on the beauty of Down syndrome children. Their story has been featured on CNN, National Down Syndrome Society, and The Miracle Channel. They had a simple plan for their lives, but God guided them towards a different path. Send The Light Product Stocking Philosophy:

Send The Light is a ministry that attempts to serve the reading, listening and teaching needs of the diverse Body of Christ.

There is but one Body, there are also many members with varying needs and Biblical interpretations. Therefore, not always knowing what may benefit a believer or further the Kingdom, we seek to carry a wide variety of religious, inspirational and even theologically neutral products (e.g., many children’s titles and reference works).

Some members of the Body (including our own employees) may strongly disagree with some of the items we carry, but we will not intentionally carry any item that is patently anti-Christian in its authorship or its message. We agree with the often quoted 17th century tract written by theologian Rupertus Meldenius which says, “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.”

My Book Review For ‘Echoes from the Oasis’ by: A.R. Tirant ~ A Historical Romance Novel.

Hello and Welcome Readers & New Friends,

.
I’m excited and very honored to have the privilege of having my friend and fantastic new novelist,
A.R. Tirant & her novel titled; ‘Echoes from the Oasis’ …

My Novel Review:

I will have to admit that I was a wee bit late getting this review done. And getting to her new novel. But if I had known how Fabulous it was before I read this “magical journey of words,”  I would not have waited so long!
It’s a well written Historical Romance you won’t soon forget. Here is a little more about Rosie, yes, … I get to call her that, LOL … as she has become a good friend. I will tell you one thing about her? This woman is everywhere!
She has done a fine job in promoting her new novel where she had been born and raised, which in opinion, is one of the most beautiful places on earth, The Seychelles Islands.
.
Not only has Rosie written a beautiful fiction romance, she also shares many of the traditions, ways, and cultures of this beautiful part of the world. And the about a young woman, Anna who blossoms when she finds love. Even one of Rosie’s written characters has my first name, Catherine. Now that made me feel special. But I’m pretty confident that was well planned in her book before we had ever met. I also have to warn you about this read, when you start reading Rosie’s book, be prepared to have a few late nights as I did. One night I didn’t turn out my reading lamp until almost 2 am. Now that’s a great read! I was so drenched into this storyline, the well written historical sites tells me the author did some research. But then again, when your born and raised where your storyline takes place, it is the past historical background Rosie really shines. She has a wonderful writing style I enjoyed as well.
.
That’s why I gave this beautiful read a 5 Stars! It truly is worth your time to purchase and read.
Great Job Rosie!
.
Now my reviews are not real descriptive as I don’t like giving any part of a wonderful read away. So here is more about Rosie, and more details of her new Historical Romantic novel. OH, did I tell you that it’s book one of a novel series?

About The Author:

.
r1     Image of A R Tirant
.
Rosie Tirant-Longhurst, aka A.R. Tirant, was born in the Seychelles in November 1958, the daughter of a policeman and the eldest in a family of four brothers and four sisters. She grew up on the northern coast of Mahe island, in the tiny seaside village of Beau-Vallon. Her working life started in 1975 as a nurse at Mahe’s Victoria Hospital, followed thereafter by a career in the Hotel Industry. She emigrated to England in 1995 and now lives in West Sussex with her husband. She has two grown-up sons and a granddaughter.

Rosie wasn’t born with a pen in her hand, far from it. Life growing up was hard and strict. The home comforts we all now take for granted were but a dream for the young girl whose days were divided between household chores, cooking, cleaning and looking after her young siblings. Water for all the household use had to be carried from a stream, with one hand holding a pail on her head, and the other keeping a second pail from spilling.

Education only happened because it was the one way of getting some rest during the daytime, even if the chores still had to be done by the light of a coconut oil lamp. They were difficult times… times when she would lean against the pillar of the outdoor kitchen waiting for dinner to cook in the large black pots, staring at the tropical skies and marvelling at the diamond beauty of the scattering of stars above, and all the while wishing for a different life…

‘Echoes from the Oasis’ is her debut novel which will be followed by other titles in the same series.

Strongly held beliefs in the goodness and righteousness of God, and in the secret and evil forces of witchcraft, hold equal sway in a closely knit Catholic community.

As a young nurse, Anna experiences both the joy and pain of her people, for survival is a daily struggle for the majority. A smallpox epidemic brings tragedy to Mahe’s Victoria Hospital, with the hatred and conflict between Anna’s British and Irish colleagues laid bare, whilst forbidden love brings the missing dimension to her life.

But then, the First World War brings the worst possible disaster . . .

Seychelles-born author Rosie Tirant Longhurst now residing in England says her debut novel is aimed at preserving what she likes about Seychelles. (Rosie Tirant-Longhurst) …

(Seychelles News Agency) – “The book is not one about Seychelles but because it is set in Seychelles I have been able to write a lot about what we have and do in Seychelles, where we come from. It’s about what makes us Seychellois.”

This is how Seychelles-born author Rosie Tirant-Longhurst describes her debut novel ‘Echoes from the Oasis’ that has received raved reviews.

Rosie who left Seychelles for England 20 years ago was in Seychelles recently. Gerard Govinden had the chance to interview her on Saturday September 13, 2014 at the Sun Resort Hotel at Beau Vallon, northern district of the main island of Mahé.

GG: Can you give us a summary of the book?

Rosie Tirant-Longhurst: “The book is not a one about Seychelles but because it is set in Seychelles I have been able to write a lot about what we have and do in Seychelles, where we come from. It’s about what makes us Seychellois. Through the characters I have been able to intertwine a lot of things that have happened in the past. This is just to give the book that richness, show what are our connections with the rest of the world. It is principally a book about women, how it was for women from the beginning. It’s the first in a series and I will use the same characters each time so that the readers know how they develop.

My main character is a nurse. It’s something I can relate to as my first job was a nurse. As a nurse you are in contact with people from all spectrum of life. You are connected to your patients. It made it easier for me to write a book when the main character was a nurse.

It is a fiction and is not about anybody specifically, but the names of the characters are real Seychellois names. I have touched on a number of things that happened in Seychelles in the old days. For example there was a smallpox epidemic here in 1883, but I have referred to it in the year 1913 in my book. I have been able to play around with some other information because it is a fiction and not a book about history. This is because I wanted to have these events in the timeframe I have written about in the book.”

Hello Friends, Readers, and Welcome New Visitors,

Many of you know that when I ‘Guest Spotlight’ a new author, I try not to be so ‘stuffy’ of how and what I write about my guests. I think it sets me apart from other book promoters and book bloggers. To have a little fun when introducing one of my friends. Now I’m not saying I’ll give them a ‘literary roast’ or anything, just share some tid bits of what they do, and about their published works.

Bonnie and I met through one of my gazillion social media sites I’m on, and she was quite the persistent bunny of wanting me to help promote her new book edition of poetry. But what sets Bonnie apart from many fine poets is that she shares much of her ‘lived life’ and challenges within her poems. We are ‘Kindred Spirits’ in that aspect. She to lives with mental/emotional daily challenges like myself, and like me, I enjoy writing and helping others through it, and she does the same, but with her fantastic poetry.
.
We talk by phone often, and becoming very good friends. She’s just a sweet gal who lives in Indiana, writes poems, loves taking photographs, and she has been through so much trauma in her life, but you’d never know because she holds no grudges of her up bringing. She and her siblings were abandoned, shuffled to orphanages and foster homes, and her taking care of her siblings at a very young age. Yes, hers is a heart breaking story. Instead of being a victim, she funneled all that into her poetry. So let me share a little about Bonnie and her new book of poetry, and share a poem that is one of here favorites!

About The Author:

BONNIE GAIL CARTER has used her roller coaster ride of living to help inspire and give to others hope so that they, too, can overcome the hardships, obstacles, and trials they endure. The Chill Turned Warm is Carter’s first collection of poetry, but her work has been featured in Jonathon Rutger’s online magazine and the Poetic Bond. Additionally, Carter is a candidate to appear on Covington’s Who’s Who list of 2014.

About The Book:

How many of you can say you’ve met the devil? I can, and I wrote a poem about it. How many of you can say you hear voices? I can, and I wrote a poem about it. How many of you have run around with a motorcycle gang of Harley riders? I did, and I happen to wrote a poem about …
.
How many of you lived in an orphanage where they split you and your siblings up into different wings? I did, and I wrote a poem about it. How many of you lived in foster homes? I did, and I wrote a poem about it. How many of you have been raped? I was, and I wrote a poem about that, too. How many of you love God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit more than anything else? I do, and I wrote a poem about that. There are poems about love and love lost in “The Chill Turned Warm”. There is something for everyone to identify with in this collection. Bonnie …

Message From Bonnie:
.
Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted to write a book of poems.
It’s only now taken me sixty years, as I turned 60 this year, so better late than never!
“The Chill Turned Warm” is not only the title of my collection of poems,
but it is my favorite poems in this book. This poem has evolved over a 30 year period
to make it what it is today. It’s title is “Sunsets” …
.

Sunsets, by: Bonnie Gail Carter

Sunsets have such brilliant hues.

What a wonderful sky canvas to view.
It makes me think of you.
Can we make it through the various sunsets
and all of life’s difficult tests?
It just makes me ponder upon what’s next.
Can this wonderful really last?
Soon the present will be out past.
Our memories will have gone by so fast.
I want to slow down the sunsets frame by frame.
Never do I want them all to be the same.
There will be some days filled with rain.
Hopefully they’ll be filled with more sunshine
and the various flavors of wine.
Like the sunsets I pray we’ll last for all of time …
